Living a humble life, Coal wandered with his family for moons. He had visions quite often, the Lost Spirits guiding his paws his whole life. One day, a devastating storm hit, thunder striking his shared den. Everyone came out running, but not his sister. Coal noticed this as burning leaves and ash rained from the sky, bolting to the engulfed den. There she lay, trapped under stones that had nearly caved her inside. Pulling her out, her spine was completely shattered. Coal was in hysteric, trying to carry her out of the flames. She begged him to run to safety, seeing his exhaustion. Coal kept up his refusal until his vision began to blacken, something shouting for him to run in the back of his mind. With a heavy heart, he bolted for safety. Moons after this accident, he couldn't stand the guilt, running away from his mother and father and joining Traveler instead. Traveler promised him solace.
