Santa Claws

Can you hear that? The tinkering of bells...*gasp* Could it be?? A big fluffy wolf suddenly appears, giving you a warm smile and a jolly laugh. It's them! It's Santa Claws! They are making their rounds to all of the packs in the land, to spread the holiday cheer, and now they have chosen to visit yours! How exciting!

It was an especially cold winter night and the members of the Wandering Stars pack were nestled deep in their dens hidden among the roots of the large deciduous trees. Dreams of bounding elk herds danced in their heads and all was peaceful. Suddenly a beautiful melodious howl rang through the forest rousing the pack from their slumber. They raced out of their dens, the pups leading the charge with yips of excitement. A large fluffy wolf padded into the middle of the pack's den site accompanied by the sound of jiggling bells. "Santa Claws is here!" the pups yipped as they rushed to crowd around the magical wolf. The pack's leader, Moon Watcher, padded forward to greet the wolf with a smile, "Welcome back to the Wandering Stars pack, Santa Claws. I was only a pup the last time you visited. I wish my mother, the previous leader, could've been here to see you again." "I am glad to be back, Moon Watcher. It's sad to see Jaci is no longer with us but I wish you a prosperous and peaceful leadership," Santa Claws smiled back and touched their nose to the top of Moon Watcher's head. "Now," Santa Claws turned their attention back to the pups gathered around them, "have you all been good this year?" The pups barked excitedly declaring they had been extra good and begged for stories from the magical wolf and asking if they could have their gifts early. Santa Claws chuckled and settled down among the youngsters sharing their stories of distant snowy lands and other magical creatures such as deer who could fly. The time flew by and soon Santa Claws stood up with a shake of their fluffy coat, "The night grows old and I have many more packs to visit still." The pups protested and tried clinging to Santa Claws but they gently pushed them off and gave each pup a farewell nuzzle, "I will be back next year. Until then, behave yourselves and grow up to be strong and kind." Moon Watcher approached with a bundle of hickory nuts that she gave to Santa Claws. "A gift from my pack to you, may you have safe travels," she smiled warmly then stepped back to join her pack. Santa Claws scooped up the nuts then trotted off into the night leaving behind the sound of jiggling bells and a jolly howl, "May you all have a happy winter season!"

Snow fell softly from a darkened midnight sky, dusting the mountainous region of the land many wolves called home. A light step and quiet crunching of the freshly fallen snow was left by a stranger that moved like a shadow across the pure landscape. "We've been waiting for you," spoke a voice as soft and sweet as the cold winter wind. The stranger stops and turns their head towards the source, being greeted by a pair of azure eyes. "Ah, Winter's Dawn," the stranger smiled warmly with knowing, "how pleasant it is to see you." The she-wolf known as Winter's Dawn stepped forward and touched noses with the stranger in greeting, and laidened their head with a crown of herbal greens and red berries to welcome them. "My tribe has been looking forward to your visit. The pups especially have been quite restless with excitement over your arrival...Santa Claws." The two wolves walk together to greet the tribe, where they all take the time to celebrate and share goods, and laughing about the young wolves' enthusiasm at meeting the fable themself. But soon it was time to say goodbye, and the stranger parted ways with them with a warm hearty howl. "Until next time, my good wolves."

Lore: The forest seemed to sigh in content when the steady paws of Santa Claws set down on its ground. The shadows seemed to stretch towards him, the moon shining even brighter than normal. Both shadow and light seemed to condense until the forms of two separate wolves could be made out, one completly white, the other black.
Both of them carried a smile on their faces though, a kind of kinship between the three.
"Welcome Santa Claws, we have been awaiting your arrival." The white wolf said.
"Come follow us." The black one added.
Together they led the festive wolf deeper into the territory, letting them meet the pack residing there. It was a night spent joyously and everyone came together to see them off, even gifting them a cloak so they wouldn't be cold on their travels.
