Moonlight's maternal great-granddam had lived a long life. Ocean's legacy has been assured, and her family lives, stronger than when they came to the mountains.

She had not been the pack's first choice for future ruler. That had been Crescent. Crescent, who matched Ocean's temper, who, even as a pup, showed the tenacity and ruthlessness needed to be the head of a pack.
