Long before the Cauchemar Pack rose to prominence in the heart of the Louisiana bayou, there was Véloce — the first alpha and the true embodiment of speed, grace, and power. Véloce was a wolf unlike any other, born under the rarest of moons, when the veil between the realms of the living and the spirit world was thin. Her fur shimmered with an ethereal, pale blue glow, and her eyes burned like twin sapphires. Her swiftness was legendary, and her strength unmatched. Véloce's very presence was like a breeze that swept across the bayou, stirring the mist and bending the trees in her wake.
Véloce was more than a mere wolf; she was a creature of the elements, a spirit born from the untamed wilds of the bayou itself. It is said that the wind, the water, and the moonlight whispered to her, and she listened — her legs moving like the rush of a river, her form flickering like the reflection of the moon on the water's surface. She was destined to lead the first pack of wolves who would rule the bayou, yet her journey was no simple one.
As the protector of the bayou, Véloce's power was tied to the natural forces of the swamp. She could run faster than any creature in the forest, outrunning even the swiftest predators, her blue aura glowing brightly in the night like a living star. She had the ability to vanish into the mist or to blend seamlessly into the moonlit shadows of the trees, so much so that many believed she could pass between the physical and spiritual worlds, moving at the speed of thought.
Her loyalty was unshakable, and she formed an unbreakable bond with the swamp. With each step, she wove herself deeper into the fabric of the bayou, becoming part of its spirit, its guardianship, and its essence.
Véloce did not claim the title of "Alpha" by force or dominance but by the sheer grace and wisdom she exuded. She was a leader by example — a wolf who moved through the world like the wind itself, swift, gentle, and untouchable. The first wolves of the Cauchemar Pack were drawn to her, not by the promise of power, but by the quiet magnetism of her spirit. She taught them the sacred language of the swamp, where each rustle of leaves and ripple in the water held meaning, where the whispers of the wind carried secrets, and the howls of the wolves were songs of the land itself.
Véloce led the pack through many trials — from droughts to floods, from fierce predators to human hunters encroaching upon the swamp. It is said that when danger came, Véloce would disappear into the blue fog that always seemed to accompany her, and reappear at the moment of need, her glow lighting the path for the pack to escape or to fight. Her speed was unmatched, and the bayou became her sanctuary, as though the very swamp was an extension of her being.
Véloce's reign as the alpha was one of harmony and strength, but it was not without sacrifice. During a great storm, when the bayou was ravaged by unnatural floods and violent winds, a human threat arose — a group of settlers who had arrived to conquer the land, intent on draining the swamps and cutting down the sacred cypress groves. Véloce led her pack to defend the land, but the settlers brought fire, and fire was an enemy the bayou's natural forces could not easily quell.
In a desperate act of protection, Véloce summoned the full power of the swamp, calling upon the very spirit of the land. As she ran through the flames, her glowing blue form became a beacon in the darkness, rallying the wolves and the spirits of the swamp to rise up. She pushed the settlers back, but in doing so, her spirit was torn asunder. The bayou, recognizing her sacrifice, transformed her body into an eternal part of the swamp, her soul now a restless, guiding presence — a spirit that could never leave, but would forever protect the pack and the land.
Her form was no longer physical, but her essence lingered. Her spirit, radiant and swift, now resides in the fog that blankets the bayou, her blue glow flickering like lightning in the dark and mist. She is both a guardian and a guide — a force that moves with the wind and the currents of the water, ever-present and always watching.
Now, Véloce's spirit is a legend, a luminous figure seen only by those who are worthy, and only in times of dire need. She appears as a glowing blue wolf, swift and ethereal, her form shifting and flickering like a star caught in the wind. She is often seen darting through the mist at night, her eyes like twin orbs of light guiding the lost and the chosen alike through the bayou's labyrinthine paths.
To see Véloce's spirit is both a blessing and a test. It is said that she will only reveal herself to those who are truly worthy of the swamp's favor. She guides the Cauchemar Pack in moments of crisis, offering them visions or leading them to safety through the fog. The howls of the pack are said to echo with her voice — a deep, powerful call that transcends time, calling her descendants to action when the bayou is in danger.
Some say that those who have earned Véloce's favor can call upon her spirit in times of need, but to do so requires a great sacrifice. To invoke her is to ask for guidance at a great personal cost, and those who seek her intervention must prove their loyalty to the land and the pack.
-Véloce gave Pyese and Sonm a series of tasks that could be completed only through cooperation. It was hard, but they got it done!
- Pyese stalked the birds in silence. Focused and alert, he felt he was improving really fast and told Véloce it was his favorite lesson.
- The lesson today focused on relaying information accurately among pack members. Fè sat with several other pups as they whispered the same sentence around the circle and tried to keep it the same, but when it came back to Véloce it was hilariously different than when it started.
