Mephus would not be around for much longer, and sought the wolf markets for the young he would be leaving behind. The pups in High Crest Pack were from his blood, and he wanted more for his pups than the occasional traveling loner or generous pack. There were few wolves that caught his eye, but one stood out.
He was famished. Healthy elsewise, but little more than fur draped across bones. The seller claimed he was a remnant from another pack. The hungry wolf's eyes eyes were pleading, but something inside them almost knew how little time he had left, how many times he had been passed up. Mephus paid for him, bringing him to the pack swiftly and directly to Ingrif.
He had not been given a name, only called the newly chased jet. So Mehpus gave him something more fitting: Newman.

- After Mephus loses an eye at nearly 8 years old, the pack pleads the lead to stay close to the dens. Mephus is reluctant, but they are swiftly outvoted. The lead compromises with no longer tackling larger animals, and taking along another wolf. Mephus is hesitant in choosing between Ta and Gan, when both express an interesting opinion. Newman has been putting the pack before themself more and more. Ta and Gan would be happy to guide a lead wolf, but not necessarily take on such a heavy role themselves. So it is decided.
