🍂 Nyx, the Wolf of Few Opinions 🍂

Nyx has always been a wolf of few opinions. She prefers to stay neutral in most things, to the point that her old pack left her behind after she didn't take a stance on a leadership argument they'd had the previous night. She's fine being alone, or with a pack…she doesn't really care either way. Therefore, when she comes across a small group of wolves one day, she doesn't think too much about them, until they ask her if she'd like to join.

Nyx decides to join the group, since it is far easier to survive as a pack of six than a pack of one. Not long after, the pack is called to attention, and roles are decided. Nyx volunteers that she has some medicinal knowledge, though it is very basic. She says she can learn from the old bear living near the pack and pass her skills onto a better candidate in the future. So it is agreed that Nyx will be a temporary healer until she can train a suitable replacement.

The black-furred wolf learns what she can from the old bear and discovers some medicines, which prove incredibly helpful when her packmates come home wounded from a hunt, or having contracted some sort of diarrheal disease. Eventually, she wanders into a Trading Hub while she's looking for herbs. It's the first of such places that any member of the pack has seen, and while Nyx is browsing the plants, she notices a pup, almost an adolescent, nosing through the yarrow. The blue-gray and tan pup catches Nyx's eye, and she introduces herself. She learns from the wolf selling the herbs that the pup is waiting here to find a new home. For once, Nyx feels a strong emotion. She wants to take this pup home. She pays the trader for the herbs, throwing in a few cones for the pup as well—she's never heard of wolves selling pups before, but she doesn't care if it gets the little one home.

Nyx arrives back at the pride with the pup following at her heels. The others ask where she got a puppy, and she informs them of the Trading Hub, to which Echidna excitedly wonders if there are more like it. Nyx also makes it very clear—which is out of the norm for her—that this pup, Morrigan, will be staying with the pack. Luckily, the entire pack accepts her as their own. Nyx had noticed that Morrigan was fascinated by the herbs at the Trading Hub, and allows the young one to watch as she sorts them. She realizes this might be the chance for the pack to get a proper healer. She's thrilled when Morrigan excitedly accepts her offer of becoming her apprentice, and the two start training once the younger wolf is of age.

As Nyx teaches Morrigan, she realizes the wolf will be a better healer than she herself has ever been. Morrigan is compassionate, observant and brilliant, quickly memorizing herbs and their uses. Nyx also takes to spending time with Angrboda, learning how to take care of pups for when she steps down from the healer position. During this time, Nyx also realizes something…she is expecting pups after a night spent with a male from another pack. When her litter is born, she realizes one of them is…different. His pelt looks torn, with a slash of white throughout his fur, just like the male had. She names her son Apantesis, and keeps him although she brings the others to be adopted out by Lillemor. She loves her son, though perhaps she acts more like a mother to Morrigan…

Eventually Morrigan is ready to become a full healer, and with the new suggestion from Echidna that here should be a ceremony for wolves who are graduating their apprenticeships, Nyx prepares for the night's festivities.

As Lilith decrees Morrigan a full healer—though Morrigan shyly asks if her title could be 'Sorceress' instead, which is accepted by the pack—all the wolves cheer. Nyx, never one for intense emotions or opinions, is struck with a joy so strong that her howl is heard above all the others. Right afterwards,, Nyx takes part in her own ceremony, where she steps down as a healer and joins Angrboda as a caretaker for the pups.

After Nyx's change in role, she still hangs out with Angrboda sometimes, and therefore with Fenrir, Aphrodite, and Eidothea. She enjoys their company, but she knows they are all closer with each other than they are with her. That's alright. Nyx still gets along with Morrigan, though she isn't a fan of her friend Aeolus, which causes a slight rift between her and her adoptive daughter.

Nyx remains a neutral party for the pack, but she's learned how to have some opinions, and maybe that's all one can ask. Not everyone is a strong leader or opinionated, and that's alright.
