Biography
A Challenge in the Shadows
The air was thick with the scent of rain and wet earth as Passion Fruit padded through the forest. The dampness soaked into his fur, but he didn't mind—it only made the thrill of the hunt sweeter. He was in no rush. The pack would be scattered tonight, and it was the perfect opportunity for him and Rose Tiger to stir some trouble.
"I smell a fresh target," Passion Fruit muttered, his mismatched eyes narrowing as he sniffed the air.
Rose Tiger, ever the shadow to Passion Fruit's flame, grinned. "Who are we tormenting today?"
"How about Cedar?" Passion Fruit suggested, the corners of his mouth twitching into a wicked smile. "He's always so serious. It'll be fun to see him crack."
Rose Tiger's eyes gleamed with anticipation. "Cedar's such a stick in the mud. I can't wait to watch him squirm."
The two wolves crept through the underbrush, moving with precision as they closed in on their prey. They found Cedar not far from the pack's dens, standing alone, his silver eyes staring at the horizon as though contemplating something. He didn't notice the two malicious wolves approaching until it was too late.
"Well, well, what do we have here?" Passion Fruit's voice was smooth as silk, but his words were sharp. He stepped into Cedar's line of sight, and Rose Tiger followed, a sly grin tugging at his lips.
Cedar stiffened, but his expression remained neutral. "What do you want, Passion Fruit?" he asked, his voice calm but wary. He obviously knew the kind of trouble the two could cause.
"Oh, nothing much," Passion Fruit replied, his voice dripping with mock sweetness. "Just thought we'd see how long it would take for a 'dutiful' wolf like you to snap. You seem so… uptight lately." He circled Cedar, inspecting him like a piece of meat.
Cedar turned his head slightly, but his gaze never wavered from Passion Fruit. "I have work to do," he said, his tone measured, refusing to take the bait. "Leave me alone."
Rose Tiger snorted. "Work? You're always working. Why don't you lighten up? You know, take a break. Take a bite of life, Cedar. You could use a little fun." He moved closer, nudging Cedar's side with his shoulder.
Cedar stepped away quickly, his posture tightening. "I'm fine," he said firmly. "I don't need your help with 'fun.'"
The two wolves shared a look of amusement. "Oh, but I think you do," Passion Fruit cooed, his voice turning dangerously sweet. "You've been so rigid lately, I'm worried you're about to snap. Wouldn't want that, would we, Rose?"
"Definitely not," Rose Tiger agreed, his grin widening. "We wouldn't want you to crack under pressure." He nudged Cedar again, this time a little harder. "Who knows what kind of mess that would make?"
Cedar's patience was wearing thin. His hackles were beginning to raise, his silver eyes flashing with warning. But before he could respond, a low, commanding voice rang through the air, cutting through the tension like a blade.
"That's enough."
All three wolves froze.
From the shadows emerged Tussle, his older, steady presence a stark contrast to the younger wolves' chaotic energy. His blue eyes, calm but piercing, locked onto Passion Fruit and Rose Tiger. "I suggest you leave Cedar be, unless you want to explain yourselves to the rest of the pack."
Passion Fruit's grin faded slightly, but his arrogance didn't waver. "What's the matter, Tussle? Worried we'll make your little friend here cry?"
"You're pushing him too far," Tussle said, his voice firm, unmoved by Passion Fruit's taunting. He took a step forward, standing between Cedar and the malicious pair. "There's no need for games like this. He's got enough on his plate without your nonsense."
Rose Tiger bristled, but he held his ground. "Oh, Tussle, always the peacekeeper," he sneered. "But you can't protect him forever. He'll break eventually. They all do."
Cedar's ears flicked at the words, but Tussle stood his ground, blocking any further approach. "Not today," he growled. "If you're so intent on picking on someone, take it elsewhere. Cedar doesn't need to be your target today."
Passion Fruit tilted his head, sizing up Tussle, his eyes narrowing. "Fine. We'll go," he muttered, his voice dripping with venom. "But this isn't over, old wolf."
Rose Tiger shot a final glare at Cedar, but he followed Passion Fruit into the shadows. "Consider yourself lucky," he sneered.
Tussle waited until they were out of sight before turning to Cedar, his expression softening. "Are you alright?"
Cedar gave a small nod, though he didn't meet Tussle's eyes. "I'm fine. Thanks for stepping in."
Tussle gave a slight shrug, his gruff voice betraying a hint of warmth. "You don't need to thank me. No one deserves that treatment."
Cedar exhaled slowly, his shoulders relaxing. "I appreciate it, Tussle. They were pushing it."
"Just don't let them get under your fur too much," Tussle advised, a gentle smile on his face. "They thrive on getting a rise out of you. Better to walk away than play their game."
Cedar nodded. "I'll remember that."
With one final look at his older, wiser packmate, he turned and padded off, the tension of the moment lifting from his body as he felt the weight of the pack's protection around him.
