Biography
Short description: A proud and quite confident sire who finds excitement and enjoyment in fighting, but more specifically, in winning those fights.
Backstory: Vicious was born as a lone wolf in the desert dunes. When he was only about three months old, a huge landslide happened in his den, which lead to him getting injured (🩹) and being left behind by his mother. Luckly, he was found by an unknown strange spirit wolf, who saved him and raised him back to health. After some time passed, he and the wolf parted ways, and that was when he decided that his life as a loner would be no more; he wanted to create his own pack, he wanted to lead his own pack. After thinking for a while on a name, he remembered the stories his mother told him about huge feathered beasts who roamed the lands many years before them, and stuck with the name "Bloodraptor Pack": they would be feared, bloodthirsty wolves who would never back down from a fight, or that was what he intended anyways. So, Vicious started travelling north, far away from his past, and in the way met a dame named Cinder, whom he bonded with over their shared past and became mates. They settled at the welcoming grasslands, and soon started building their pack.
Extras: Leg scar gained from landslide, owl talon necklace represents his connection to birds of prey and raptors, ear scar gained from fighting mustang herd.
Relationships:
- Cinder (Former mate): Although he still has feelings for her, he ignores them for the better of their current forced formal alpha-herbalist relationship.
- Hawk (Son, chased): He feels a bit uneasy about him, since he heredited the same personality as Sky, a non so liked member of the pack. However, he still tried to be a decent father figure for as long as his son stayed in the pack, which wasn't for long.
- Russet (Daughter): He has a distant relationship with his daughter. She, unlike Hawk, never looked up to him, and she doesn't resemble him much in looks either, which makes Vicious feel disconnected to her.
- Sky (Packmate): Him and Sky never really got along, and it wasn't because of their clashing personalities, quite the opposite, really. They simply tend to look sternly at each other from far away, only talking when absolutely necessary.
- Grizzly (Friend?): They met in a rather aggressive interaction, but they slowly took a liking to each other when they started to work together. You may find him and Grizzly passive-agressively bragging about their best achievements in both hunting and fighting in a rather playful way.
Writing
It was a cold, windy night, still reminiscent of the harsh winter just passed. Bright stars twinkled above, as the breeze ruffled his brown fur. Vicious looked up in silence, watching the moon lower in the purplish-lilac sky.
It would be soon time for sunrise, and today was the day when his cubs would become official pack adults; he knew that something would change, for the better or worse.
He looked down at his paws, have I done good? he wondered, but soon shooed away the fear and doubt aside, sighing and looking back up again. Yes, I have. My pack is thriving and powerful, and most importantly, we all survived winter.
He heard a rustle in the bushes, and stood up intermediately to the noise intrusive to his thoughts, as his gaze shifted towards the movement, however, we felt calm wash over him once he recognized the distinctive brown and white splotched pelt of his beta, who respectfully bowed before sitting down next to him.
"Good morning, Mountain." He directed his look back to the forest in the distance. "Is Night back yet?"
"I haven't seen him enter the den- why do you ask?" Mountain perked up an ear, looking around as If trying to remember something. "Oh, right..."
Vicious kept silence for a split second. "We need everyone in the pack to be here. Hawk and Russet will become official adults."
"I can go recall him, if needed-"
"No, it's alright. We can wait until morning has fully tuned in." He laid down, laying his head on his front legs. "You can go wake up the others meanwhile."
Vicious watched as Mountain left, and when in solitude again, he closed his eyes.
…
A few hours passed, and the sun was now starting to rise above the far away treeline. Vicious scanned his pack's camp, everyone was here. He let go of the air in his chest and climbed up the meeting rock, and then giving a loud howl. The wolves heard his attention call and soon gathered around and sat around the large stone their pack leader was standing on.
"Wolves of the Bloodraptor Pack, today is a special day." He looked around, and instantly found where Russet and Hawk were sitting. Cinder, his former mate, wasn't with them, since she was currently caring for her new litter of pups with the pack's beta, Mountain. "Hawk, Russet, come forward." Russet walked towards her father, a blank and cold expression on her face as her reddish fur shone under the sunlight, and was soon joined by her littermate Hawk, who looked rather annoyed, and defiantly stared at Vicious with his deep blue eyes, which he couldn't help but be reminded of the way Sky, a not so nice packmate, looked at him from afar. "Today, these two young wolves will become pack adults, and will get their new roles to serve as full members of their pack." He took a step forward, a stern look on his face. "Russet, do you accept the role of chaser?"
She nodded. "I do."
"Very well, the pack shall welcome you into our ranks." He signaled with his tail, and one by one all wolves in the crowd started howling, as a way to congratulate her ascension. "You may go back with the rest."
Vicious turned to face his son, as if he already knew what was going to happen, but the ceremony had to be done the same for all wolves. "Hawk, do you accept the role of-"
Hawk snarled. "No."
There was a deafening silence for a few seconds, soon broken by the first raindrops falling onto earth, and then, everyone took in his words. A mild frantic started between the wolves, Grizzly, the wolf who trained him, in particular, seemed quite dissapointed. Whispers, snarls and even whimpering was heard in the storm of reactions, however Hawk remained unfazed, his chin high against the rain.
As the waterdrops started getting heavier, Vicious raised his tail and shushed the confronted pack wolves by a loud growl. "Let him speak."
"I have decided that I am going to leave this pack to go live as a loner." The chocolate furred sire said confidently, his fur now soaked by the rain.
Vicious nodded. "You are aware that by leaving, you will be treated as any other outsider?"
"I am."
"And you swear to never come back?" He could see Hawk started getting exasperated by the questions, but they both held firm.
"I do." His son growled, ears back.
Vicious sighed, I've done what I could he thought. "Very well." He carefully got down from his rock, making sure to not slip. "You can have some time to say your goodbyes, we will be waiting at the prairie border." He signed with his tail for Night and Grizzly to follow him.
Hawk looked around, locking eyes with his sister, Russet, for a second. "I'm fine as is, can we get going already?"
"Yes, come on."
...
The rain grew cold and heavy, as they finally arrived at the end of their home biome, and were faced with harsh, open meadows. Vicious stopped the patrol right before they could cross to the other land, and looked at Hawk. "It's your time to leave."
He watched as Hawk took a few hesitant steps, his head low but determined.
"Good luck, son."
The brown and white sire abruptly stopped to look back, and his neck fur bristled against the storm. "You were nothing of a father to me." Hawk growled, his blue gaze clawing deep into him.
Wordless, as the words rang through his ears, he watched as his son, now a loner, walked away, hopefully never to be seen again by his old packmates.
