"I'm sorry, brother, but my desinty does not lie with our Pack. I want to be apart of something greater- I want to join them. And I know it'll be dangerous, but what's life without risk?"
-Marthos to his brother, Lóegaire, about joining the Gaurdians
Marthos was born in Starfire Pack to renowned Stalkers Conláed and Gráinne. His parents would share many stories with their pups, but the one that stood out to Marthos was the stories of the Guardians of Emberfell. He was fascinated by these wolves, and vowed at a young age that he'd one day join their forces.
As an adolescent, Marthos would sneak out of territory borders in search of any hints to the whereabouts of the Guardians. Lóegaire noticed his brothers absences and begged him to stop chasing the wolves in the stories and focus on his trainings, but to no avail.
One day, Marthos found a wolf who claimed to have been helped by the Guardians just a few day's journey away. He thanked the wolf and ran all the way back home to tell his family the news, and that he'd be leaving to join them the next day.
His mother and father knew there'd be no stopping him, and gave him their goodbyes. His Pack leader, and the rest of the Pack, bid him good luck and told him he was always welcome to visit his home and family. Lóegaire, however, was saddened that his brother would be leaving and begged him to stay (to no avail). Marthos, with a heavy heart, told his brother that his destiny lied elsewhere and that he would always feel regret if he didn't go follow his dreams, now that they were in reach. Lóegaire eventually realized he would never be able to persuade Marthos to stay and offered to accompany him the next day to say goodbyes.
Marthos found the Guardians, who were surprised by his dedication to join. Grimmlock, the Pack Leader, allowed him to train as a Ranger. Marthos trained as a Ranger for months, but didnt seem to show any progress. He had the spirit, the drive the Pack looked for...he just wasnt physically able to keep up with the intense training sessions. Marthos' mental health took a toll and he was allowed a short break to visit his home pack.
After much discussion with his old family and friends, Marthos accepted he wouldnt make it as a Ranger. He returned to Emberfell and decided to become a Tracker. He replaced Sybil when she retired.
