Kaspar

Caspar is not just the leader of Vivkren, he is a vigilant guardian of his pack. He takes it upon himself to teach the young wolves everything they need to know, imparting wisdom passed down from generations of wolf ancestors. His lessons emphasize the importance of paying attention to the birds, who act as guides and protectors, as well as the dreams that come to them in the night.

For the wolves of Vivkren, birds are sacred creatures, and their feathers are used in various rituals and ceremonies. Even in death, a pack member's body is sent to the desert to be devoured by vultures, their spirits soaring with the birds to the afterlife. The pack's herbalist and pupsitters work together to collect seeds to feed to the birds in the grasslands, instead of using them for growing future herbs. Caspar's motto is simple yet profound: "Feed the birds, and the birds will feed you."

Caspar's role in the pack goes beyond just being a leader. He is also their "DreamWalker," offering interpretations of their dreams and providing guidance for safely navigating the Lunar Lands. Only the oldest and most experienced pack members or those coated in blue pigments are allowed to venture into the Lunar Lands alone, making it necessary for Caspar to travel back and forth often.

Despite his wisdom and knowledge, Caspar has one glaring weakness: his deep-seated hatred for squirrels. The mere mention of them brings a scowl to his face, and he takes great offense to anyone who offers him a meal that includes squirrel meat. While he is not fond of other small rodents like mice, the pack members suspect that it is squirrels specifically that have given him a bad experience. To keep Caspar from becoming upset, the young wolves are often tasked with chasing away all squirrels that come into contact with the pack.
