Shielen

Hailing from the Alhavenlan Pack, Shielen was a lone dispersal male found wandering the outskirts of Merlin Valley. Shuck's yearling protégé Hati patrolled nearby alongside her mentor in search of lichens. Shielen wasn't particularly difficult to spot, and Shuck watched intently as he attempted to disappear into a conveniently-sized fern, perhaps hoping the formidable black wolf hadn't caught sight or scent of him yet.

Shuck had the mind to kill him or chase him back whence he came, but Hati's bored demeanor had suddenly changed. So, against his better judgement, he sent her out to trail the one-eyed stranger. Around nightfall, the chipper young wolf returned to the valley with Shielen in tow. They were quickly accosted by several pack members and the now thoroughly disgruntled leader.

"He says he's fast," she said, wagging her tail as if Shielen wasn't groveling on the ground next to her, trembling at every limb. "I also think he smells nice."

Somehow, Shielen survived.

He made true on his promise that he was, indeed, fast. In fact, he more than pulled his own weight and became more than just another mouth to feed. However, he is frequently spooked off during hunts, and is often the only one loafing about the rendezvous site while Hati and the others remain out.

Despite being quite timid, he enjoys getting to know his new packmates and is quite popular among the pups and adolescents for being a magnificent storyteller and an overall patient, understanding wolf.

He also does smell incredible, but Hati was the first to know.
