Herbalist's Cave
Set inside a crevice between the large rocks in the camp, the interstice between two rock faces forming the entrance to the Herbalist's Cave is hidden behind tufts of dry grass, shrubs, and bush. The den's interior is rather tight, with rocky walls and a soft floor, good for burying herbs beneath a light layer of dirt to retain their moisture during the dry months. The den has a large opening in the roof in one corner to collect water. Herbs are usually stored on rock shelves and in small clefts in the rock to prevent them from drying out, or soaked in water and buried when it's hot and dry. The Herbalist's sleeping space is in a rock fissure toward the back of the den, a well-shaded spot good for cooling off after a day of foraging, and is lined with a bed of prairie grasses and wildflowers.
