This is a place to catalog my pack's lore, and the rules of the challenge I am using. I'll try my best to  keep the layout simple, and this will contain main pack events, occasionally from multiple different points of view. It will get a bit dark, so don't read if that bothers you. Also, the challenge+lore is based of the wolves of the beyond series, using most of the vocabulary, and the belief+ranking system.

Sionnach

The wind was howling, snow settling in large drifts. Sionnach lay under a large pine, her pups resting against her side. Only one of them was hers, but she wouldn't tell them that. Three of the pups, she had found curled up in the snow, shivering in the cold. She had taken them in, allowed them to nurse at her side. She had been on her own, wandering the tundra, for some time. She had been expecting pups when she left, fleeing her former pack in hopes that some of them would survive. But they were weak, with only one surviving. Artach, she called him, naming him after the snowy wastes where he was born. He had a fox's pelt, the same fiery orange as her own, but even that seemed to be marked by white, as thought dusted with snow. She had been weak with hunger, and half mad with thirst, when she had seen the wolf.

He had stood on the snowy hill, seeming to gaze into her soul. Almost unconsciously, she started to know things. It seemed as if she had always known, but.. She felt a new strength flood her limbs, warming her from nose to tail. As she turned, she spotted a flash of fur dart past. Without thinking, she lunged for it, grasping it in her powerful jaws. As the life bled from the rabbit, she found herself staring into its eyes, seized by a vision so powerful, she was unable to move. A great chain, the way of being. Wolves living, dying, and ascending to a new life in the stars. One wolf, leaping over a wall of fire, jumping for the sun.

Caonach

He was named for moss, named for the beautiful, soft green plant that grew on the trees of his birthplace. When the snows had come, the moss had gone. He had been born in the swamp, under the bright summer sun. He and his brothers, had been warm and happy and safe, right up until the first hint of cold. When they had been picked up and thrown out into the snow he almost couldn't believe it. Gual in particular had tried to find his way back, struggling to accept the truth.

Gual

After they had been abandoned on the frozen river, he had done everything he could to find his way back, even trying to swim across the river back to his former pack, only stopping after his brothers forced him away from the bank. The river was melting underneath them, the fall sunshine returning. Realizing that this could quick turn deadly, he turned, about to tell his brothers, but before he could, he felt the ice crack underneath them. As his brother, Iolar started to whine, the ice cracked fully, and they were plunged into the freezing waters.  It was so cold. He fought best he could, but the raging waters were simply too much for the still young pup. His body almost completely numb, he put forth one last effort, managing to shove Iolar, the youngest brother, into the shallows. He couldn't see Caonach any longer.

Iolar

After landing in the shallows, he managed to drag himself out of the river, and frantically ran along the bank, desperately trying to free his brothers from the river's deadly grasp. It looked like they were heading for the deepest part of the river... But he could change that. He ran up to the edge of the river, leaping towards his brothers. He seemed to almost fly across, soaring like the mighty eagle he was named after. Landing in the river with a mighty splash, he was just able to knock them out of the current, and, shivering, they were able to drag themselves ashore, and collapse in the snow. Gual, with his thick, coal-black pelt, would stand out against the endless white, so he lay on the top of the pile, hoping that some-wolf would find them.

Sionnach

They had been wandering the snows for a while now, just managing to survive off of the now abundant hare that roamed the hills. But they needed a break. Wandering down to the riverside, they had decided to take a nap. But she had felt some instinct pulling her down the bank. She didn't like to leave Artach alone,  but she couldn't help but wonder... And then she saw it. A clump of coal-black fur, sticking up from the snow. Was it just a bit of fur? Or was it a piece of prey, stored underneath the ice. As she began to scrape the snow away, she noticed that is was... A pup!? Digging faster now, she pulled the pup from the snow.  The poor thing was barely breathing, and nearly frozen. Then she noticed another pup. How many were there!? Grabbing the other pups, she brought them back to Artach, trying her best to warm them up, wrapping them in her thick green cloak.

Gual

He had drifted in and out of consciousness, numb to the world around him. He had been so cold... But there he was. Standing on somewhat weak legs, soaking up the weak winter sunshine. And his brothers. Against all odds, every single one of them had made it. He had known, when Sionnach had pulled them from the snow, that his debt could never be repaid. For now, he was content to learn what she taught him, learn how to hunt, and respect the great, endless chain. He knew his place. He was to be a lieutenant, and lead his brothers in the chasing of prey. Artach, the other pup, was to be an obeya, unfit to join in the glorious hunt. And their would be others. Sionnach had spoken of finding more pups, just as strong as they were, to fill the other roles in the hunt. The Fox-wolf was cunning, he knew, and would find the others, just as surely as snow would melt, and rain would fall from the sky.

Sioc

She had been proud to pass the test, proud to finally leave the whelping den and start preparing to train with the pack's mentors, and settle into her role. But the scent of change was in the air. A strange wolf with the pelt of a fox had been lurking around the pack, and it was all anyone would talk about. The curfew had been extended, with the pups barley able to leave the den, and it was becoming incredibly cramped. So, she had snuck out. One night, when the moon was round and full, she slipped out of the den, and then out of camp... The woods were strange at night, loud, and somehow so much bigger than under the warm light of the sun. But no fear lay in her heart. She was eager to explore, confident in the safety of her home ground. She listened to the whisper of owl wings, the soft scurry of mice in the grass. A sudden glint of light distracted her. An owl's talons, reaching down towards her...  She froze, fur bristling and teeth bared. She still wasn't afraid, she would prove that she deserved to be out of the den... And she was slammed to the side, protected from the deadly talons by a strange wolf. Suddenly gripped by the scruff, she watched as  she was taken away from her home ground, and towards the treeline.

Sionnach

She gripped the pup tightly, wincing at the cuts left by that strange owl, blinking the blood out of her eyes. They wouldn't scar, but still hurt. The pup twisted in her grip, trying to get free. The little thing was surprisingly strong, and only reinforced Sionnach's  idea that this pup would be the Byrrgis packer. As she plunged into the river, letting the currents wash her scent away. It would be best if they weren't found. As she leaves the river, she is met by the exited wagging tails and bright eyes of the pups, clearly pleased at something that they had found. A large rabbit carcass lay in the center of the clearing, evidently dragged there by the pups. She flicked her tail, signaling that they could eat, and set the pup down in a sheltered nook, letting it rest on the soft snow. "Hello, little pup. What were you doing out alone in the forest? She tilted her head slightly, perking her ears. It was important to learn every nuance of the pups character, and learn how to teach them the ways of the great chain.
