Soul Shadow

The air was still. Too still. The kind of stillness the Shadows of the Undead bring with them wherever they go.
Moddey Doo, half hidden behind Cat-Sìth, was whimpering but it was not his acute whining that had woken me. It was the silence outside the cave.
I know the Shadows, I have met them in the days of old, and vowed I would do my best to avoid them henceforth. Yet here they are, seeking me out in the den of our people, where the bravest and the most foolish come to die.
I slide along the passage, melting in the darkness, my eyes wisps of light in the deepest black. What the Shadows want, I cannot fathom, since even they fear The Sìdhe, and after the outcome of our only collaboration, a millennia ago, they cannot hope to receive  much of a welcome.
Truth to tell, the bone mask that has merged to my skin has come handy to me more than once, both to scare the mortal scum that foul our world and as a weapon in fights against other clans. But there is no reason for the Shadows to know it.
I step outside and there they are, vague shapes flickering among the trees, visible only to immortal eyes, as the glowing mists that surround them.

"Barghest."
The word - my name - resounds in my mind and in the gust of freezing wind that sends a shiver down my spine and has my fur standing on edge.
"Undead" I reply. "What are you doing here? You are not welcome."
Silence. Stillness.
"The dust of death has settles, we have come to repay our debt" they say after a pause as long as time.
Outwardly I do not move but my muscles are bunched to jump: if the Shadows try a trick of theirs, their existence will cease on the tip of my fangs and claws.
"An addition" they say when I do not speak. "For the Sìdhe."

After ages spent roaming this world, few things startle me. This one does.
Like all immortal beings, The Sìdhe hardly ever reproduce, and Moddey Doo is a miracle born of the blood of a thousand ripped throats. A new member for the pack would be valuable enough for me to forget our past history, and more.
"How?" I ask.
"How is not important, young one. The question is who."
Young one, I hate it when they call me that. I mean, it's only a couple of eons.
I growl deep in my chest and the nearest Shadow floats back a few paces. Better, much better.
Together as one, the Shadows raise their arms and the mist thins. There, at the edge of the clearing in front of the den, I now see a huddled shape, it's fur the same colors as the mist and the darkness. It lifts it's head and glares at me with a single blind eye - the other is missing altogether.

It's a wolf, a pup, and it has nothing cuddly about it. Drool falls from it's sharp teeth and for an instant I wonder if it's just a rabid mortal animal but no, it has too many legs and an aura of despair. Well, of despair for those who meet it. Kind of weird for something so small and... helpless?
I step closer, my nose-hole a mere few inches from it, my fangs almost touching it's fur. It snarls.
I force myself not to step back: I am the leader of The Sìdhe and will NOT step back in front of a cub, not even one who smells of death and can rip holes in your soul with a glance.
I lift my head and nod at the Shadows in acknowledgement of out deed.
"Come" I say to the new member of out pack. "Follow me."

You're running.
It's behind you.
You try to get a good look at what's after you, but almost trip in the process, so you just keep running. Fear drives you on. If you stop, even if for a second, it'll all be over.
You pick up the pace and manage to put some ground between you and your pursuer. Huffing, you slow down, having lost them a while back in the thick trees. Sitting down and resting your back against one such tree, you do your best to catch your breath.
Closing your eyes, you event start to chuckle a little. It'd been a close call. Had you have tripped….
Calming your nerves, you close you eyes, and almost immediately open then in a panic.
That sound… like claws scraping the ground, and that feeling…
Out of nowhere, the air starts to feel more damp, almost as if a heavy weight is pressing down on you.
Your lungs feel like they're being squeezed, and the fog, growing thicker around you.
You frantically look for an escape, only to find yourself staring into the eyes of a… being.
Entranced in the stare, you feel the energy leaving your body. The motivation, the adrenaline, all drained away.
You start to feel tired, what is this being? What does it want? As you start to drift off, it moves closer, and though you feel panicked, you cannot move, paralyzed, forced to watch it get closer as your eyes start to close, and darkness envelops you.

You wake up with a jolt.
Was it all a dream?! Where's the being? What happened?!
You still your breathing, perhaps it was all a nightmare. But deep in your mind, you can still feel that eerie sensation. Something tells you that you'll be seeing it again.

The Beckoner
A being that chased it's prey till it's exhausted, paralyzes it once it meets its gaze, and drains it's prey's physical and mental energy, allowing it to invade its mind and stay there, controlling it like a puppet till it gets bored and finds a new host. It's called the beckoner because once caught in its gaze you can't help but feel tired and entranced by the gaze, not able to look away.

You gallop through a dense coniferous forest, thick with tangled brambles and sprawling ferns. Dim sunbeams filter through the pines, providing enough light to avoid any obstacles. As the days grow shorter, the native foliage begins to shrivel up. Ferns that were once green and exuberant were now a rather ugly dark brown. You could almost hear the cries of the plants as they curled their dying fingers towards the darkening sky.
Distracted by the bleak scenery, your paws catch on a massive rotting tree that had fallen long ago. You faceplant into the damp earth beneath you, and the smell of rotting leaves overwhelms your senses. Yuck. Glancing around to make sure nobody was around to witness your tumble, you rise and shake the clumps of dirt from your fur. As you blink away the debris in your eyes, you see that the forest around you is quite different than it was before your fall.
The pines are now dark, lifeless skeletons-- not a pine needle in sight. The sunlight has disappeared behind the clouds, even though just earlier there wasn't a cloud to be seen. Shadows begin to grow and stretch across the forest floor, despite the lack of sunlight. What is going on?
Feeling rather dizzy, you close your eyes for a brief moment. You assume it's just the weather-- sudden changes in air pressure have been known to cause headaches. But this seems different. It's almost as if the world is rocking beneath you. Time seems to pass slower and slower, and a sharp throbbing pain begins to develop. Breathing rapidly, you open your eyes to try to ease the pain. The world is shaking, spinning, rolling around like a wet dog. There is no direction, no order, no balance. You're falling, you're flying, you're sinking. Shadows leap out at you from the corners of your vision. Exhausted, you allow yourself to topple onto the ground and your eyes close once more. Is this the end?

[will finish later, it's almost 2am and i'm starting to feel like the character lmao]

CW: Possession, light description of gore, light description of murder.

The bonfire climbed high toward the stars, consuming all it was given. A whispering voice catches the ear of a young dame, her fur gently blowing in the wind that was beginning to catch speed across the plains. Patagonia was beautiful this time of year, but she had been worried about the annual eclipse. Her mother had always told her it was an event of a lifetime, where they danced around the flames of a fire and summoned the old gods to dance with them. Her ears turn back, and she swallows thin whilst the eclipse became in full swing.

Something's watching her. It wasn't the simple glance from her mother off talking to her friends, no, it was something more. Her hackles raise softly, and she whirls around, yet nothing is there. The eclipse is behind her, bits of sunlight winking past the moon whilst it covered her beauty only for a few hours of one day. One of her back paws hit the browned rocks where the fire was being contained and suddenly, she feels at utter unease.

A dark, heavy mist overcomes the area, thickening with each passing moment. Whipping her ears back, the young white pup whimpers in place.

"Would you like help?" A soft voice asks and she swore she saw a wolf standing next to her, but as she turns to view them, they're not there.

"Wh- ,, What?" Uneasily, her tail tucks between her legs.

"Help. May I help you?" Something about the way they worded it made her swallow her tongue into her throat.

"I.. I guess so?" It was enough.

Black liquid begins to drip from her mouth, hissing as it hits the ground. The young dame chokes on it, gagging and heaving as she tries to expel it from her stomach. She tries to howl for her mother, but her voice is stuck in her throat. Heavy and dense, she struggles to stand and as she glances up, wide jaws open and consume her. A shrill scream leaves her throat, paws clawing at her chest before finally, she tears into her hide and blood spills across the ground.

It crawls up her limbs, dying them distinct stripes across her pale body. After a few moments, her eyes bled down into a pale white and not before long, it vibrantly glowed.

"What's wrong, baby? What happened?" Her mother approaches her, yet the little dame is no longer there. Tilting her glowing eyes up, a sinister grin passes across her muzzle.

"Sorry, mother." The pup haughtily laughs, tossing her head back and standing straight. "Or, am I? You let this happen."

Horror filled the older dame's eyes and she tried to scream, but there was no time.

The bonfire slowly snuffs out as the eclipse runs to a close. As the sun casts its rays across the ground once more, a massacre of bodies is seen around the fire's embers. The pup gives a soft grin, showing ebony teeth to the skies before howling in laughter.

Lore;
On the night of the bonfire, one of the "ancestors" of the wolves who hosted it decided to come down and teach those around it a lesson of caution. Instead of blind belief, they should know to heed their elders words about never trusting ghosts. They possess a young pup and kill all of the members except one in order for their tale to be told to the pack who had not listened the first time.
