[Fishing] Invasive Species

[Fishing] Invasive Species

I have searched the boards and found nothing like the idea I have.
A suggestion for an addition to the Fishing minigame - a special fish to catch - Invasive Species. I love the new system of 30 fishes per day, fishing minigame is extremely fun and I feel it'd be cool to add even more activities to do with it.

Every Invasive Species fish/critter caught would give an item, like a legendary catch. They would be found between Rare and Legendary - a bit easier to catch than Legendary but not as often found as Rare.
They would have a visible red outline when you catch them, to indicate its a special catch! The rarity label would say "Invasive Species" instead of normal fish rarities.
Those items could be used as food or toy, OR traded in a special shop for special currency, to be spent on fishing-themed decors and backgrounds.
They would have same rarity in all biomes and all give same amount of currency when traded in, so no biome has any advantages or disadvantages over others.

It could be an entirely new shop, with a shopkeeper offering fishing themed items, accessible via fishing game page. Fishing Cat shopkeeper perhaps? A kitty concerned in ecosystem's wellbeing and offering our wolves rewards for catching and bringing her the invasive species that threaten the ecosystem, so she can dispose of those threats. Felines often become the invasive species and hurt the ecosystem themselves, so I feel it'd be fitting to have a responsible feline shopkeeper who wishes to better the ecosystem.
+Suggested by πŸ’€ Maladi idalaM πŸ’€: The shop could be Seasonal, offering items for sale spring to autumn and going into "restocking"/"hibernation" for winter, this would give it a unique twist while still staying relatively reliable!

Ideas for invasive species!
(this is just a rough estimate, feel free to suggest if you have better ideas!)

Glacier - European Green Crab
Tundra - Chinese Softshell Turtle
Taiga - Chinese Mitten Crab
Coniferouus Forest - Walking Catfish
Mountains - Sally Lightfoot Crab
Grasslands - American Lobster
Deciduous Forest - Giant Tiger Prawn
Riparian Woodland - Wels Catfish
Prairie - Silver Carp
Desert - African Clawed Frog
Swamp - Asian Carp
Rainforest - Lionfish

Decor ideas for the shop:
Decor - Fishing hook earring (piercing the ear pirate-style)
Decor - Fishing hook nose piercing (poor wolfy)
Decor - Fishing lure earring (can be different shapes, fish/feather/etc)
Decor - Fishing net wraps, neck/paws/tail/shoulders
Decor - Fishing rod, held in mouth
Decor - Stolen Tack Box
Decor - Fish bucket
Decor - Crab Trap Headwear (a crab trap on your wolf's head, pups would be completely inside of it)
Decor - Fish mask, Catfish, Salmon, Sturgeon, Carp - various popular fishes
Decor - Fish tail, again Catfish, Sturgeon, etc. various shaped realistic fish tails to wear
Decor - Other fishing animals; otters, seals, a bear friend holding a fish, etc

I adore this idea, honestly. In the interest of diversifying the list a bit more, or maybe to flesh out multiple species per biome, perhaps the Lionfish in either Rainforest or Swamp? As someone raised in Florida, our oceans ecosystems have never recovered from the introduction of this particular invasive species!

Love this idea - good for spreading awareness! May I suggest one of the Asian carp species - Bighead and Silver Carp are the most prominent - for the Prairie? I'm from Nebraska and those plus Zebra mussels are the big ones when it comes to invasive species around here.

Food?, thank you for suggestion! I added Silver Carp to Prairie - not sure about Bighead Carp because its already a species in fishing game, it'd be confusing if in one biome it awards an item, and in the other it does not

This would 100% make me fish more!

This seems like a pretty big update (adding new items, a new currency, and a new shop), but even just adding invasive fish species would be a lovely first step. Wolvden is a nature-based game, so it would be amazing if it addressed environmental issues in a lowkey way (kind of like how exploring in the Glacier gives a "there seems to be less ice than last year..." text).

al80798, perhaps their item descriptions can address various affects the invasives have on the environment? Something like "This voracious fish have intruded into new biome and devours everything in its path. Its a good thing you caught it!" or "In the biome it now lives, this fish did not have any natural enemies, and its population grew rapidly. But now you are its enemy!".

Completely onboard!

I'm guessing this item description would pop up with the weight of the fish, so it hopefully won't require more coding, just some research and a lil more text.

(As another future add-on:
It would honestly be really cool if, like others have suggested elsewhere, there was a "trophy room" or "fish collection" of some sort where you can view all the types of fish you've caught and learn some information about every type of fish -- kind of like the hoard, where you can hover over every item to see a small blurb!)
