Hunting is blacked out and I am unsure how to get it to open up. 		Glossoholic

Go to the Snake Quest page and scroll to the bottom to see which Unique (tutorial) Quests are available to you. Look for one called "Time to Hunt". That will teach you to hunt and get you started with a hunting party.
