Questions about Inbred and COI%

Questions about Inbred and COI%

Hello! I'm a player who's been around for almost a month now. If I could get any answers to my questions, I would greatly appreciate it!

So, when I first started, one of the first wolves I bought was this beautiful wolf on a breeding cooldown. I named her Poison.

It was not much longer than I had gotten her that I was exploring the different buttons on the page, hit "Family" and discovered that Poison, who's 4th generation, has had 3 instances of inbreeding in her line, with her COI being 25%.

I was upset to learn this, but I also had still grown attached to her. After all, it wasn't her fault. But, I'm, still upset to learn the inbreeding thing.

Recently, I was thinking I was going to clean out my den. I was thinking of chasing her off, but, I wanted to wait until she had her first puppies with my leader, since I had her for so long. Today, her puppies were born.

I looked under Family, and it still says 3 instances of inbreeding, but now it says COI is 0% (for these puppies). I don't understand how their COI could be 0%?

So, my questions are these.

If enough generations go by, will the instances of inbreeding be dropped to 0?

What's the point of a COI if it goes from 25% to 0% upon the next generation?

Do people care more about the COI or just that inbreeding happened period end of story? (Cause I'd immagine the latter)

If I chase my darling Poison, would somebody who may potentially add her have all of her family history erased including the COI and inbreeding, and thus, she'd be a gen 1 again with none of that family history?

I mean, I would have imagined the % will eventually get to decimals (so like if it gets to 1% next gen might be .5%? I'm not completely sure how it works honestly), so I'm curious how the math works myself lol I would say, typically, people who are trying to do "clean"/non-inbreeding are going to look for no instances of inbreeding. I assume, based on LioDen's similar feature, the instances of inbreeding won't ever go to 0. COI just is a means of searching via the TC and stud searches for non-inbred (NIB) wolves really, so this kind of raises some questions if the 0% intended based on whatever calculation the coding is doing or if this is a bug.

If you chase a wolf, and they are found again, their heritage is completely cleared. Everything but their looks and age (unless they were a certain age limit, at which point their age is reset I believe) is cleared and set to that of a normal generated NBW. It basically treats them as a completely new wolf. On the flip side, it won't change anything for their existing pups. The pups will still have the family history as is, just with no image and no link to the parent's page (the name, I believe, still appears, and you can still find the family history of the chased parent).

The reason the pups had COI of 0% is because the current COI system only counts how many times the same wolves appear in both the mother's and father's tree. None of the wolves in Poison's family tree appear in your lead's tree, so the pups are considered not inbred in the current COI system.
