Increasing Stats through Battling

I have been wondering about this for the last couple of days.  Battling has mainly improved my lead wolf's strength and speed, but does not favor smarts, wisdom, or agility as much.  Do the choices you make during a battle effect which stats are improved?  

I don't think we know that yet? My lead has very high speed and wisdom instead.

Interesting!  I have been avoiding certain enemies (like eagles, vultures, and bears) so I wonder if that has something to do with it.  Thanks for the data thread link!

I just fight whatever is low enough level for me to handle, and my strength/smarts are highest.
