See..this is where I get hung up, the white stones don't tell me anything more than the red ones.
So I get a color right but it is in the wrong spot hence the red spot..yipee.
I get a color right and in the right spot hence the white spot..yippee
But I still don't know where that 'right spot' is 'cuz there is no reference as to where, on the big receptacles, the little dots refer to..not so yipee.

I dunno..just seems like the white spots are useless if there is no order or reference to location/order.
And I am only using the Easy level...hate to think what it is like in the other levels.

If you haven't tried it yet here are the options & restrictions in Hard Mode:  6 colors of stones, but 2 fewer rows you can Guess to win.

It may not clarify counting the white dots for you, but here's an example of using my strategy when I play the Hard mode:

I only needed to use 1 purple with my 3 gold stones & I placed it in the first hole which won. But if it was in the wrong place I would've moved it one space to the right on each of my last 2 chances. I might not have won if it belonged in the very last space, but by systematically moving it I can keep track of what I've already Guessed & not duplicate a move.

YMMV but that's my strategy, & maybe it'll help another player.

Hmm..I see. Still a bit confusing but a strategy is definitely needed. Again not knowing which 'dot' corresponds to which receptacle adds to the confusion but I really do need  a strategy that goes beyond the ol' hit-and-miss...thanks

You're welcome. Once you find a workable strategy it makes it more fun. :)
