Kim's Guide to Befriending [An Interface Explanation] | NEVER LOSE CHASEDS AGAIN!

Dully going to note that this guide has been done with the "Body Language" talent active, showcasing the NBW's disposition right away. This will not affect this guide, as this is to show the layout of the interface, not the outcome.

In terms of the befriending interface, there's one, main thing to take watch of:

The Choices Given


You may be asking, "Kim, why would you say this, we're always keen on the choices being made! What's so different?"
Let me explain.
Below is the Befriending Cheat Sheet. While you may not have it up right away when befriending on some cases, this will be used in the demonstration.

As most are aware, each beginning befriending move corresponds to certain dispositions, some leaning positive, very positive, negative, and very negative corresponding to the wolf's.

And now, I'll provide an example of a chased I recently encountered:


The NBW's disposition is Friendly. We'll keep this in mind as we continue throughout the befriending.
Now, notice the 4 options we are given: Touch Nose, Snarl, Groom, and Bristle Fur.

Touch Nose is a Romantic-Aligned move according to the Befriending Cheat Sheet, granting very positive results to any wolf aligned as such, alongside providing positive results to Friendly-Aligned wolves. Alongside, this can grant negative results to Aggressive, and very negative to Stoic wolves.

Snarl is an Aggressive-Aligned move, granting very positive results to Aggressive wolves, positive results to Stoic, negative results to Romantic, and very negative results to Friendly.

Groom is a Friendly-Aligned move, granting very positive results to Friendly wolves, positive to Romantics, negative to Stoics, and very negative to Aggressives.

And finally Bristle Fur which is a Stoic-Aligned move, granting very positive results to Stoics, positive to Aggressive, negative to Friendly, and very negative to Romantic.

In this example, to fit the Friendly disposition the wolf has, we'll choose Groom.


Huzzah! The wolf gained 5 arrows, already halfway to a certified befriend!

Take a look at the new moves the interface provides us. Notice a pattern yet?

Nuzzle is a Romantic-Aligned move, just like Touch Nose was in the first round.
Bare Teeth is an Aggressive-Aligned move, just like Snarl in the first round.
Whine is a Friendly-Aligned move, just like Groom was in the first round.
And finally, Wag Tail is a Stoic-Aligned move, just like Bristle Fur was in the first round.

For the sake of befriending, let's choose Whine to continue on.


The example has made it to full arrows! Now, can we keep this pace?

The final set of moves involves Sniff Glands, Stare Down, Zoomies, and Raise Tail.
If you've finally caught on, I won't spare the details. However, if it's still not clear. Let me explain once more:

Sniff Glands is a Romantic-Aligned move, just like Touch Nose and Nuzzle.
Stare Down is an Aggressive-Aligned move, just like Snarl and Bare Teeth.
Zoomies is a Friendly-Aligned move, just like Groom and Whine.
And finally, Raise Tail is a Stoic-Aligned move, just like Bristle Fur and Wag Tail.

You may be wondering: "Kim, why do you keep bringing up the dispositions every time a new set rolls in? It's almost kinda annoying-"
Well, the answer lies in their placement.

Notice that none of the moves' aligned dispositions shifted spots. Romantic moves stayed in the first slot, Aggressive moves stayed in the second, so on and so forth.


These dispositions aren't guaranteed to stay in the same spot like the example, but throughout the befriending process, the moves given and the dispositions they're aligned to will never shift.

If you ever feel uncertain about what moves correspond to a disposition, be it a failed first move or just an unlucky positive roll, deduce by reasoning with this new tip!

If it was positive, deduce it to the remaining movement the disposition may possibly align to (do note that Wag Tail is a deceiver as it aligns to Stoic, not Friendly).

If it was a negative response, you now have at least a 50/50 shot once removing the possibly similar-aligned disposition's move from the equation. Only up from there!



Otherwise, thank you for checking this out! Hopefully it helps others garner NBWs a lot easier instead of having to rely on other players to hopefully get moves right. Plus, it's a fun little addition that I presume most didn't know about, so another hope to get this ingrained in players' heads to prove a more... lax way of befriending instead of being in a chased panic.
