Allow All Males to Breed within the Pack

I wonder, since there's already female information tacked onto males in case they're turned into females, could some of that information simply be "turned on" for males? Like fertility and cooldowns and such? Also the idea that non-studs get differing amounts of breeding slots depending on the time of year is an interesting one! What if even a male's fertility effects how many slots they have each season? God-like fertility could mean a non-stud has one or two slots even in winter. |

I kinda like that idea actually treeling! Varying fertility levels for the males I mean |

For the people making overpopulation arguments, the factor driving the number of pups in game is not the number of breeding males, it is the number of breeding females. Every slot in my pack requires resources and effort to maintain. The more males I can keep, the fewer females I can keep. If I could design breeding pairs: a Scout pair, a Finisher pair, an Herbalist pair with high wisdom and pretty green eyes, a merle + shaded + tamaskan pair, a pair designed to try to get auburn combo marks in every slot ...... if I could have additional breeding males, even with restrictions on how much they can breed, still I would have half the number of breeding females and therefore half the number of pups I currently have. My efforts would be more focused and my enjoyment of the game would be increased. Actually so would my spend on the game, so maybe this is a terrible idea, I only have like two projects right now and one male and I'm already poor, perhaps I should rethink this, lol. |

@Vampirette Everyone is entitled to tehir opinion and I respect your non-support, but I woudl like to point out just a ew things you have mentioned and offer a diffrent perspective. Maybe it can convince you, maybe not, either way is fine :) 1. "the game wouldn't be challenging anymore" 2. "it's not in the nature of wolves to just allow other males to breed with their females" 3. "male only hunting and scouting team" 4. "male wolves do have a purpose, while having too many females just means you can mass-produce puppies which is a big problem at the moment in the first place" |

Huge support here! I have a ton of males and barely any females and I'm bummed none of these males can contribute to my pack by breeding with my females - besides not having pregnancy restrictions for tasks they don't have much use lore wise. Their earned stats and levels ultimately really don't mean much imo, unless they are sold and become a breeding male that way. |

Erolith reminded me of something (maybe someone has already said it though) Since the males can’t breed, there’s no point in having them be the hunter. As scouts there could be a benefit because they don’t get pregnant and could therefore scout more often than female wolves that are bred. But as hunters? There’s already a max of ten hunts per day per wolf. I’ve easily used up all hunts for the one hunting party I have, even if the females were pregnant. They at least can pass on their stats, and hunting gets them stats. But males who’ll never pass on stats have no use for being in the party to gain level and stats, they’ll never be able to pass them on. They’d just take up one slot in the party where a female wolf easily could replace him. |

No support from me for two reasons: First, it will significantly add to the overpopulation problem we already have and second it will make the need of using GC to change studs obsolete. For my first point, even if all males could breed, I don't see any reason for people keeping more than a couple of them. If for example one person kept 1 breeding male for each aspect I can think of right now (stats, looks, rare base, rare marks, clean line, mutation) it would only amount to 6 wolves. Those 6 wolves however would go out and add several pups in all 6 different playing styles. That would leave people free to have 6 studs and 40+ females to breed, not really helping with the overpopulation issue. On a lesser note, that would make WD essentially a breeding game which doesnt really appeal to me. I have been on a few of them and they are *very* PTW. The second point is all about keeping the game alive tbh. From what I've seen, changing a breeding male is relatively common and a good GC sink. That promotes GC sales and GC sales keep our servers running. Ofc GC can be used in other facets of the game too but nothing that is a tempting as having a brand-new stud that will make you money, at least from my perspective. |

I support this! I think that being able to have all or at least more males breed in the pack will prevent the issue of males being worthless. I personally place a lot of importance upon lore and I think this might stop people from wanting to avoid having males in their pack just because they can't do anything much with them. |

@Thalassa Well I think what you're missing is that males do not have pups, the females do. If people are encouraged to keep their males because they aren't genetic dead-ends, then that means they keep less females and fewer females = fewer litters and thus fewer puppies are born. Also high stats and pretty wolves will always be valuable as studs. And on top of that it is important to think about people who can't put money into the game |
