Allow All Males to Breed within the Pack

I wholeheartedly support! I know it's something that can probably cause a split since having only one breeding male has already been a feature for so long, I just... don't think it works out. I have absolutely no interest in recruiting male wolves past the tutorial stage period. The only reason you'd specifically want extra males is to prevent yourself from getting overzealous from breeding, but there's really no downsides to breeding as long as you can simply chase out the pups you dont want taking up resources. And you can simply choose to not breed females when you don't want to.

Edit: I forgot that female wolves have slower energy regen time + nesting time while pregnant, but it still apparently doesn't stop people from preferring them anyway. And ultimately you're still in control whether to breed the wolf or not xD it has pretty easy workarounds basically

And seeing as how this seems to be a mechanic consistency thing between lioden instead of a realism thing, I do think that really needs to change for at least the sake of diversifying gameplay between the two sites. Having diversity in mechanics will encourage more people to play both sites rather than choose based on whether they like wolves or lions more.

@phantom starsx i agree with you, it's interesting in theory but honestly i'd just be happy with setting up my romances and letting them have babies once every two weeks or so haha and the less complicated the suggestion, the faster the devs can come to a decision about it and (hopefully) implement it

Then the least complicated would be keeping the already stored fertility data that males have incase they are sex changed.

I 100% agree. There is absolutely no reason for this game (which they took over 4 years to make btw) to be *exactly* like lioden in almost every single way(come on, even the layout is exactly the same)

In a game where you can have bright ass red and moldy green wolves, why not let us have fun with otherwise useless males?

@unheardsiren well that would actually be more complicated because they would have to code two fertilities interacting with each other (something that has never happened in either game) and would have to come up with a solution for mutation chances with two fertilities and how those would work in addition to coding male breeding cooldowns and stuff, whereas if they just have the male breed like he would as a breeding male but with cooldown, they don't have to do as much

It can stay stored. Wolves cant be sex changed after breeding anyway. But theres no reason to code it so males have a functioning fertility that has to be somehow compatible with females already expressed fertility.

To be fair I think unlocking everything at once would make more sense. As @UnheardSiren said, the data is already there.

As an aside, do we have a permanent fertility-changing item in the grove yet? If not, it could be released alongside male fertility, if the devs decide to add things from this thread. If keeping the site running is the issue, I definitely think sales from that would help

@vagueshapes honestly i don't really have a preference as long as a fertility-changing item is released (which i predict they will soon, or at least i hope so) or as long as temporary fertility items also work on the males. I don't support it simply because it would require more coding because breeding has always (in both games) only been based on one fertility measure (and thus, one mutation potential), not two, and i don't want any extra unnecessary complications to dissuade the devs from implementing this suggestion, but it doesn't bother me either way as far as my personal preference

@Sneep- I agree there. I do like the idea of being able to breed towards higher or lower ferts, but if excluding male fertility got the feature added faster, I'd be all for skipping it. The longer it stays this system, the harder it'll be for players to get used to any changes

They are already doing things in a more complicated and interesting way than LD so I don't see why fertilities in breeding couldn't follow the same. WD is not LD, there is a lot more room to do more complicated mechanics here as WD is supposed to be harder. Working with both sexes on even footing in terms of fertilities/cooldowns as far as interpack breeding feels like that fits in my option.

And it could be easier to implement fertilities than we know as we don't know for a fact that our Breeding Males don't count as a 100% in their code already. It could be entirely on the females fertility with no male input to mutation from fertility/preg chance and thus be harder to implement. Right now we don't know how their breeding code works and shouldn't to be fair. No fun mystery or trial and error that way.

Edit: Either way, I want to have males in my pack that I can pass their genetics. I'm not particularly fussed on implementation. I have a preference, but I don't want it only if I can have my preference.
