Allow All Males to Breed within the Pack

I support this idea! 

Maybe to deter players from flooding the stud market, maybe players can purchase up to 2-3 additional "stud slots". I like your idea of just having the one outstanding stud then the rest be usable for breeding within the pack, but if players are still concerned about a flooded market/ less people wanting to use outside males, this could offer a solution. These stud slots would work exactly as the main breeding male, where once set they are a breeding male for life or until unassigned via GC (maybe a slightly lower GC cost since players had to buy the slot in the first place), but as mentioned above, these males can only be used to breed within the pack.

I don't have much to add, but if we're going for realism, technically only one male should be able to breed within your pack and all the rest should be able to be studded -- basically, the opposite of what is suggested here. This would mimic wolf dispersal that happens in the wild, where wolves leave their home pack to have better breeding options.

But at the same time, if we were doing realism, your main wolf (if male) would be the breeding male.

For realism, you’d have an equal number of breeding males and females, not this bizarre harem system.

If realism were as much of a factor here then you'd only get one breeding female, too.

in terms of an online wolf breeding sim where we have blue and neon yellow fur i think realism is on the back burner, and should be compared to good, solid gameplay

Also big support. I think limiting a pack to a small number of breeding males is fine, but *one* is just way too limiting. Maybe have unique quests for when your stud hits level 10 and 15, letting them set betas on completion? I personally like the idea of betas only being able to breed 1-2 pup litters or all runts - enough of a drawback you'd really prefer to use your stud, but enough possibility that you CAN work around it as needed.

Coming from Flight Rising, in that game I always had 3+ breeding projects going at the same time. It's a bit different because they lock you out of inbreeding too close, but many many players would have completely different sets of breeders to make radically different babies from. It's the same here. I'd LOVE to have a Auburn/Russet set going, along with my Black and Whites, and maybe a set of as black as you can get. But I can't, because I only get ONE male to breed with without fussing with studding. My boy breeds lovely black and whites, but if I wanted to try for pure blacks I'd end up with total messes.

I feel the mechanic is the way it is for a reason and should not be changed. I like it how it is personally because it encourages me to seek outside studs to broaden my genetic pool. Besides irl wolf packs don't have "alphas" what they have are a main breeding pair, their pups from the year before, and this year's pups. Once the older set of pups reach maturity they leave the family pack and seek out their own mates to make their own family pack. Just to touch on the comment I saw that mentioned alphas.

Yes, but the main breeding pairs are still the leaders of the pack. I just said 'Alpha' because it was easier.

Except during times of plenty, multiple pairs can and do breed within a single pack with the leaders' blessings. 


Also, you're playing a game with magic water that changes a wolf's gender. I think we can bend reality a bit.
