Allow All Males to Breed within the Pack

Posted 2020-11-03 20:32:25

@KalikaRoo31- I don't see that being an issue, mainly because of combo markings. There are a vast number of marks in the game, and the number will only get bigger as time goes on.

The way combo marks are set up, you need slots and colours and marking shape to be compatible on both wolves. That means that if your stud has a compatible marking with a player's female, plus a design they like, you're still going to get that occasional stud request that you're getting now.

Not everyone will want to keep an even number of males and females, some people want to keep all female packs, and some people (I.e. me) want a combo marking that includes a marking colour they dislike, so they'll have to use studs.

Not to mention that there are hard-to-get tier 3 bases that haven't been added yet, and NBW exclusive traits that you need to reach level 15 to find. I could use studs to introduce rarer traits from people who have already bred them/have combo compatible markings, and keep a seperate in-pack breeding project for replacing my lead, like I'm currently doing, only with 1,000x less stress.

Personally, I don't mind the stud market but I don't like it being so central to gameplay. I have zero interest in studding or posting my breeding male as a stud. I like seeing what I can accomplish by myself, I don't like relying on other people for my own amusement or to work on my projects. That just isn't my idea of fun. And if that's all this game is about then it seems like it has a very niche appeal.

If this is added players like me will lose all market value to our breeding males is what I'm saying I don't want to lose that little bit I do get

The way it is now at lease I get something out of it if this is added to all males players like me will get nothing

Also most of the people here are vocally for limited slots or cycles for males, so it wouldn't likely be a free for all anyway.

RaeRae#12344 I agree with you on that

But not all males just 1 or 2

I'd have thought that the increased desirability for males, and thus their being easier to sell, would make for more of an increase in earnings than a rarely-used stud.

@KalikaRoo31- But studs won't lose value? There are so many people already deciding to do no inbreeding in their packs, and even more focusing on breed-only traits such as combo bases and markings, that unless your wolf is really basic, you won't be losing out. People will always love niche studs.

If a wolf is very basic, then I'm sorry, but the only reason he gets those occasional studs is because the game is new and there aren't a lot of males to choose from. Over time you won't be getting requests at all, even if the system is kept 100% the same. The reason we already have so many unwanted pups is because everybody assumes what they have is worth breeding/selling/studding.

The benefits of this suggestion, in terms of flexibility, planning, reduced mass-breeding potential, and actual enjoyment of the game, far outweigh the handful of studs I may get during early gameplay if everyone is forced to use the studding system.

I'm not into the pup market most of the time I just give my pups away I don't want to bother with selling them so yeah for me that occasional stud fee makes a difference

But don't get me wrong I would definitely like to see at the very least one additional reading mail slot made available
