Allow All Males to Breed within the Pack

:0 I was talking about this earlier! I was thinking that there could be a cooldown for males entering the pack, maybe 12 rollovers so that people wouldn't trade them back and forth. But other than that I totally agree! I have a bunch of lore written for my pack and it's annoying that it won't work. |

I also feel like once I pay 3GC to sex change a wolf that I don't want to spend more on said wolf. I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I'd rather not feel pressured to sex change every male and instead enjoy buying applicators to make the wolves I have look nicer. Perhaps that is a hold over from growing up with most mmo games requiring a subscription. Once FtP started to catch on, I'd drop at game that ended up being PtW or Pay to Enjoy. Yet if a game was fun and free, I'd happily waste money on cosmetics or perks. I'd also feel better about sex changing some wolves to male and some to female to get little pairs for my personal projects just right. But I'd also feel like if males were exactly the same, minus pregnancy and heat, to females that things were more my choice. |

Here's another idea I sorta got from this thread about a studding system for ladies as a solution to the problem... Only stud/breeding males can be up for stud or bred within the pack. However, if female studding is introduced as an official feature like it is in LD, your main breeding male OR any male in the pack can breed with the lady whose heat you're buying. That way non breeding males CAN pass on stats and genes, but it doesn't collapse the whole prior established system. Also, ex-breeding males have been gelded and can't breed to ladies up for stud. I think it also works okay with the "realism" of it--- other males aren't breeding within the pack but they may show up with some pups they found (I also might play with some ideas about the survival chances of these pups bc they'd get less support from other pack members) Any general thoughts? Not sure if I want to make my own thread yet |

I'm not fond of another way to force players to interact to be honest. I'd rather that a whole site feature isn't cut off because you don't want to pay for another player's heat. Right now with the system as is, you
This supports a variety of playstyles and what you are suggesting would make it so if you want to breed your other males you have to pay another player to do so. Or not have access to this feature at all. |

Idk if you're replying to me or the main thread, but for mine you still wouldn't be forced to interact? The ability to freely breed your breeding male to your own wolves, and not having to breed to the wolves of any other male. And you could still use your own and other studs. It would just add an option for those that might want to breed other males besides their current breeding male. |

@red I was replying to you. I will try to clarify what I mean in response. 'Only stud/breeding males can be up for stud or bred within the pack.' This is exactly what this thread is discussing being changed. This is the system as it is right now, everyone discussing it here either wants this changed or kept the same. 'However, if female studding is introduced as an official feature like it is in LD, your main breeding male OR any male in the pack can breed with the lady whose heat you're buying. That way non breeding males CAN pass on stats and genes, but it doesn't collapse the whole prior established system.' This is forced interaction with another player. You would not have to pay for your own heats, just as you don't have to pay to use your own breeding male. If you want to breed your non-breeding males under this system you would have to buy another players heat or you could not breed your non-breeding males at all. Which is exactly what this thread is suggesting to change. If they allow other non-breeding males to breed within their home pack then you can either play exactly as you do now with no changes, which I listed the three options I see above, or also keep more males to breed within your own pack. |

Female studding as a mechanic just seems messy, what happens if you forget to feed and play with the stud wolf for a day? Not everyone is perfect and mistakes like that happen, now pups that arent yours are at a penalty, same if a pup dies because you dont have enough protection. It just seems like a fast way to cause player vs player drama.... |

I don't think that discussion of female studding is constructive to this particular topic, perhaps redirect your queries to the relevant suggestion? |

Female studding cuts down the amount of breeding you have personally with a female too, since females have such limited breeding opportunities. You would have to take care of someone else's pups for several rollovers, which means the you'd be responsible for reimbursing people for lost pups. It would be big, messy, and cause issues. |
