Adding a "Use" button for stacks of items

Adding a "Use" button for stacks of items
Posted 2020-11-03 08:47:27

Hello!

Using stacks of single-use items - such as stoats, feathers, etc. - can get extremely tedious to click each item individually to use. When you have a 15+ wolves pack, trying to use multiple items that have a single-use is bothersome.

I would love to be able to use the items when looking at the stack in the hoard, and it would use the items to fulfill the wolf's needs. For example, when I am feeding a wolf with 70% hunger, when I click the stoats stack, I can use the "feed" button - like what it is when clicking the item - it will use multiple items in the stack to fulfill the hunger.

I feel this will be a huge QOL improvement for the game, especially since in the wintertime there is a higher percentage of "critter" prey which makes clicking single uses of food often prevalent.

I'm not sure what would be required of the devs. Certainly, it would be a coding and programming issue, where you can use the same format as using multiple uses of the same item and apply it for the whole stack of items. It would not take any artwork and writing work, and I would imagine that server-wise it wouldn't be that big of a change.

I appreciate you looking at my suggestion, and hopefully you can continue to improve the game that I love playing!

I highly agree with this – I don't have an incredibly large pack yet and it's already pretty tedious. I get a large amount of single-use prey from exploring as well, and as you mentioned, winter will bring further critter-type prey.

What you say about coding is true, I don't have coding experience. So I'm not sure what's needed there.

My one worry is that it might overstep into the 'auto-feeding' territory, however I think that since you are still feeding each individual wolf, that shouldn't matter too much. I personally have my own issues with the auto-feeding being temporary and paid for, having experience in other sims like FR, but that's a separate issue. I think this would make the task of feeding one individual wolf much less tedious.

Overall great suggestion :^)

I agree with this 100% - not to discuss the sister site in a suggestion but Lioden does have this feature and it's incredibly helpful. My pack is reaching a larger capacity and now it's starting to get a tad annoying - this would make feeding so much easier!

I agree with this. My topic got locked, and I suppose I found the reason lol.

I absolutely agree with this. It's just more efficient and limits the amount of time I spend feeding/amusing my wolves.

Support! The more my pack expands the more annoying having to feed and play with all of my wolves becomes.

Was about to suggest this myself, but before posting I went to see if someone had already done this.

Anyway, I support this idea and have a mock-up I did:

Support. Anything to make feeding less tedious and mind-numbingly boring, honestly. I mainly use critter/small to feed my pack and it takes forever. Especially when I'm on mobile with slow internet, which by the way, is most of the time... :T

Support. I've been doing it 1 by 1, starting at the top of my den page to feed my wolves, because it's easier than digging through the hoard and stacks of carcasses to feed. Anything to make feeding and playing easier is a win for me.
