Traded Puppy Survival Grace Period

So this is something that sparked from my own experience, which luckily ended well, but I think the potential for it to have been very bad if RNG hadn't played nice. If there is a buffer I don't know about than this is a moot point, but I don't think there is. I had made an offer on a puppy in the trading center that was accepted about... 5 or 10 minutes before rollover, which put the pup in my account. Since It hadn't been cared for that well over the course of the offer period it entered with a low survival rate and then took the 15% hit too. It lived but it would have been really, really upsetting to have bought a pup that died instantly due to care I had nothing to do with- especially the expensive ones. So my suggestion is to add a small grace period where newly traded pups can not die. So that new owners are can at least get an attempt to improve survival chances and prepare- or at least don't have to worry about getting what's effectively a "dead on arrival" because rollover RNG occurred before they even saw it. |

I agree with this! Especially with currency being so hard to get right now, it'd be devastating if you shelled out for a nice pup only to have it die because it came to you with low survival. I recently bought one without looking at the survival chance because just didn't occur to me-- it turned out to be quite low! I think I've got it out of the danger zone now but I definitely would have upset if it'd died. |

At minimum, pups shouldn’t die for the two hour window they can’t be chased or sold. That allows a small grace period for people to add a pupsitter in situations like yours. |

I never considered this, but I see how it could be a huge problem! I think a 1 RO grace period would be very beneficial, while also have a longer trading cooldown to prevent the feature from being misused. |

Players are active in different time periods due to living in different timezones. It's likely that some of them will miss the moment of offer being accepted till the rollover when the period between them is short enough. Also, malicious traders may accept offers to sell pups in the last moment before rollover. However, it's on buyer's responsibility to look for pup's survival chance before purchase and expect not being active when the pup might be delivered without pupsitter assigned. About the last paragraph, I also had this in mind that the feature could be easily exploitable so pupsitters will never be needed, no matter how long this period is because you could exchange pups with a friend just before rollover. I think there could be a system that auto-assigns pups to a pupsitter. There could be a setting that once you make an offer on pups, you can set pupsitters to look after the pups who haven't been bought yet. |

Full support! I'd be happy with a guaranteed 1 RO survival chance or a grace period for 30m-2h or something along those lines especially since I know that I'm likely to have that happen to me in the future. Badger also had a really good point, just adding a grace period to the 2 hour window would be nice enough. Edit - Midnight ROs I hear you. My RO is at 1 am currently so I get that only 2 hours of grace may be an issue- so I go back to the stance of supporting one unprotected RO regardless of how long ago it was accepted. <3 |

As someone whos rollover is at 2AM... I get that there is a pretty big potential gap there. I don't really have a solution to solve that fact but having nothing seems worse As is, there is technically nothing stopping "malicious traders" from doing that anyway. As long as the pups out of your account and into theirs, they have to deal with it. Hell, even non-malicious traders may log in for rollover, see they have an offer, and accept it before they do their chores- again leaving someone with a debuffed puppy. I considered the fact that it was... well, potentially something you could just say "it's your responsibility" but once you make an offer, its on the seller accepting it for when the trade happens. You could bit on a healthy pup that sits in the center for days before the offer puts it in your account, and that's potentially time for it to have much worse health than when you offered. Just leaving that as a "well... deal with it" just doesn't seem like the best solution. |

Ouch, please. My rollover is while I'm asleep - a few days ago someone accepted my offer on a pup while I was already sleeping, so I had no chance to check its survival before rollover, and it turned out to be 60%, so it was purely luck that the pup survived at all and my money wasn't just wasted. |

Full agreement. I bought a pup and the offer was accepted maybe ten minutes before rollover (before time zone change, so that was 3AM here), so when I got back on the puppy had lost survival to her already low survival from the person I got her from, she survived by miracle at 20%, so even with a pupsitter immediately assigned her survival was barely at 80%, so her future was shaky for a few days after I had just shelled out for her. A one day, or even 12 hour protection and full day trade cooldown would be a great addition. |
