Hello, I briefly made an account last year but haven't touched the site much until recently, and it's been unexpectedly fun.
I'm curious how people generally approach Wolvden and similar breeding sims. Do you have specific goals? What's your approach to breeding? If you develop lore for your pack, how do you go about that? And so on…

Personally I had this idea of starting a pack with NBWs only and starting a "dynasty" from scratch, without getting wolves bred in other packs. It's possible that chasing wolves became a lot more popular since last time I was active, what makes it *much* easier to get markings/bases without spending GC.

There are so many different strategies, it boggles the mind. But I keep things simple. I breed for stats above all. Because of that, it benefits me to breed my hunters and scouts only once at the end of a lifetime of grinding for stats. I started writing lore for my pack even before public launch. From the info we were given during development, I knew that I would be given two wolves of opposite gender to start. So I made my lore start with a love story. My pack and its lore has only gotten stronger over the years I've been playing. And I expect that to continue.

@spotpc The options truly do get overwhelming yet otherwise playing feels too aimless?
That is cool I also similarly plan to only start breeding my wolves once they're at 500+ stats.
When I made my first two wolves I was surprised that I could pick either gender for either of them and thought I was circumventing the site's limits in categorising my two female wolves as mates. To my surprise, when I unlocked pair bonding, they really could become mates. It may be a small thing but makes me so happy to have (esp after trying and losing interest in Lioden). Never developed their backstory though as I went in blind and it's impressive to hear you even planned yours ahead.
Where could I read the beginning of your lore? :}

My lore is linked on my den page. The oldest entries are down near the bottom because I was so lazy, I didn't want to scroll. So I just plopped new entries at the top. I apologize in advance.

I dont really have too much of a goal, i just love breeding pretty wolves and making lore for these silly pixel dogs, im not willing to go as far as Stalhlast/Ravenwalker did in terms of stats, i like to make my wolves and studs cheap and affordable, even if they put me in debt.

At some point when i get confident enough i will try to make side GC/SC through commissions, though it's hard for me to find the time to set up a post, rules, draw, etc etc.

Currently trying to find the motivation to write Immortals lore! but my den page is stuffed full of an intro thats still in the works, also need to draw more things for it, as the 2 images are outdated and i dont like them lol.

All in all, im a "i'm just here for the fun of it" player, with no real big goals half the time.

Msasi Goals

  • Be Sepia Queen of All the Land Under the Sun

  • Natural colors, baby (mostly, exceptions to be made with exception)

  • Some kind of stats. Not the stattiest stats, as I don't have that sort of patience or determination or free time, but some sort of stats that don't completely suck and slowly get better as generations pass

  • Chill vibes, good times

@kat about opening up commissions, my advice may be misplaced as I notice people really like to fill in and decorate their art sales pages…and tempts me to do the same if I make a post in the future. But if you struggle with this, a minimalistic approach works perfectly well and also saves people time when reading through. My experience with off-site commissions at least made me decide to keep rules and whatnot to just the bare minimum.
Also your den intro was quite fun to read :3

@Msasi agreed with all. I love natural colours, and good times is what it's all about as this has become a real comfort game to me.

I enjoy having different goals to work towards, so whenever I achieve them I make new ones! :)

My current goals are:

- achievement hunting. Trying to get as many as possible, which currently involves a lot of fishing and pup training
- breeding spontaneous muties (for the achievements of course). I have a 1% fertility (plus wolf meat for now) project going on
- having my hunting teams being made up of only T3 decent statted colourbombs. I am quite a long way away from this 😂
- breed particular bases, particularly Losna, turquoise and cool lights at the moment. I also have a lavender pie project going on
- rnc breeding, mostly raffle eyes and t3s with some just pretty ones
- breeding a steady supply of muties for my free muties and carriers thread for accounts under three months
- trying to breed a G100 wolf

And of course the most important one...

- have lots of pretty colourful wolves ❤️
