In a community so fixated upon first-generation wolves, we bring you a new play-style that focuses on wolves of any generation while introducing a fun challenge to keep the game interesting.
Legacy breeding is the practice of only breeding wolves of matching generations with symmetrical family trees. This is achieved when first-generation wolves are only bred to first-generation wolves, second-generation wolves are only bred to second-generation wolves, and so on as far back as a wolf's tree goes. This playstyle is purely a matter of preference and does not impact the objective value of a wolf, though taking focus off of only NBW studs is one of the goals of making this challenge public.

Guidelines

Anyone can use this playstyle at any time with or without joining the group. It is a preference I am not the first one to invent. However, I will provide official guidelines below for those who are interested in shared, concrete goals.

Every wolf of a legacy pack should be legacy-bred. Exceptions are allowed, though they should be notated with the word 'mutt' in their description and ideally confined to a specific cave. Once a wolf is bred with mutt lines, their offspring can never be legacy-bred.

Surnames are encouraged both for fun and to keep track of lineages to prevent inbreeding. That said, inbreeding is not specifically against the legacy playstyle, most players just tend to avoid it.

Legacy wolves may be bred from pairbonds, private studs, group-registered studs, or even public studs as long as they come from matching generations of symmetrical family trees.
