So I am aware of this posted topic that states what stats are needed for a role however I would like to get some clarification if both stats are necessary. Stalkers use Wisdom and Smarts. So for Chaser, is it optimal or is there any significant difference if I have both Speed and Agility on a wolf? I'm asking this because I have some wolves who have decent stats in Strength and Agility for example. My interpretation would be that if I needed to, they could cover the role of Chaser or Finisher and still be equally successful. However, I am not confident if that is true. By this assumption, I assume I am optimizing things to cover multiple bases but if it's very ineffective, I wouldn't know so I thought I'd ask! Thanks in advance for any responses ^v^ |

No matter what, a wolf will gain proficiency and stats in the role you make it do. A wolf will for sure struggle if its doing the work of two different roles while hunting. This is because while you can have the same wolf both act as a chaser and finisher during a hunt, it'll only gain proficiency in finishing if it has better finisher stats. And proficiency matters a lot too long answer, it depends. Within the 3 easy biomes (Grasslands, Mountains, Deci Forest) a hunter's proficiency seems to matter more than their stats regardless. Pretty much, as long as the wolf has 100% proficiency in it's hunting role, stats won't matter at all assuming all wolves in the party get along. (don't quote me on this, its just what it seems like especially compared to any biome that isn't easy level) Stats definitely matter for hunters in all the other biomes. There is a huge difference in success between easy and medium biomes with the hunter's stats. For example, my lowest hunting team has chasers with 100 stats in each speed and agility, but 100% proficiency - have 100% hunting success in easy biomes, and 62% success chance in medium biomes. My hunting teams with 300 stats in their respective role specific stats, have 100% success in medium biomes, but 62% in hard biomes. For scouts, the amount of stats the wolf has in the stat group each biome requires for scouting affects only the % of land discovered before unlocking that biome. At some point a scout just won't be able to scout the hardest biomes unless they meet specific stat requirements I could also be completely wrong about all of this.. but I'm like 90% sure this is accurate hopefully it helps! |

I really appreciate your explanations & answers! This helped me a bit in clarifying but I have an additional question going off of what you stated. So it's clear that it isn't efficient if a wolf were to play the role as chaser or finisher. "Or" being a keyword, I saw you used "and" so now I discovered that you can put the same wolf in 2 different roles! I didn't know that before o: But from what I understand if you use it for 2 roles at the same time, it will only gain proficiency in whatever stat it has best for a specific role. In your example, if the wolf has better strength while playing the role of chaser and finisher, it would only gain proficiency in finisher. My question specifically with this is: what if you were to try to train it in both proficiencies? Is that possible or will the other proficiency be lost over time while training the other? Could both ever be at 100? If for example, I were to use a wolf and change its role every new hunt. So first hunt I make it a finisher & it gains some EXP and proficiency then I use it for chasing the next hunt. As I do believe they gain proficiency every hunt with +1 each time? Sorry if I'm repeating myself or anything! Thanks again so much for your help ;w; |

a wolf CAN gain proficiency in multiple roles without losing proficiency in the other roles. This applies both to the 3 individual hunter roles (hunter, chaser, finisher) as well as proficiency in a completely different role (scout, herbalist, pupsitter) its a little tedious, but you can technically get a wolf to 100% in multiple roles all at once, but a wolf can get 100% as both a chaser and finisher, yes. So, because a wolf can only hunt 10 times a day, say you have the wolf be a chaser for 5 hunts, then a finisher for 5 hunts the wolf will have 5% proficiency in both chasing and finishing by the end of its 10 daily hunts. Its completely possible just not ideal, mainly because it already takes quite a while to actually get a wolf to 100% (it should take 100 total hunts to reach 1100%, so doing both roles would double that) and again, proficiency is important :D if you have a lot of time, like I do, you can max out a wolf in two completely separate roles what I used to do was have a wolf use up all 10 hunts, then make that wolf a scout and send it out there is a cooldown for switching roles (ex. hunter to scout). Its a rollover cooldown, so you'd have to just remove your wolf from the scout role before rollover, and this will take away the role switching cooldown so you won't have to worry about it and can do the 10 hunts + however many scouting missions you can squeeze in this is very good for leveling pack wolves, but extremely time consuming and you really gotta pay attention keep in mind there is no limit to how much XP a wolf can get every day but there is a limit to how many stats a wolf can gain every day (I believe for pack wolves its 4) also, if a wolf doesn't have a role active, it will lose a little proficiency at rollover (2-3%) but you'll gain it back that same day anyway |
