I wanna color a cat base,but I cant figure out how to color it in on magma without covering up the lines

I tried using layers but it just doesn't show up unless I turn down the outlines opacity which is just another problem

Okay change the layer you are using to color the base with to Multiply. And then if you want you can use the Transfer Down option to merge it with the OG Layer
