Breeding mutations: when do they appear?

Breeding mutations: when do they appear?

I have been searching for 4 hours straight looking for the answer.

Yes, I've heard of spontaneous mutations. They appear randomly. But what about non spontaneous mutations? What about a wolf, who was bred by two mutations, got their genes and became a mutation? Are they a mutation at birth? When does the mutation appear?

There's different types of Mutations.
Spontaneous which you seem to already understand. They happen randomly but higher chance with extremely low fertility females.

The other Mutations are carried by gene or at least one parent.

Gene mutations; Albino, Melanism, Brachycephaly and Eye Cataract
These can be tested in Gene's Hollow. One parent must be a carrier for it to pass on to his kids. If you want the Mutation to show, then both parents must be carriers.

Piebald / Patches Mutations;
These are only obtained through a MoD (applicator) bought during black Friday deals in the Grove when buying GC packs. You can apply the MoD to any wolf, and there's a chance it'll pass on to offspring. You only need one parent for it to pass, and you cannot get one MoD from a different MoD. You get whichever the parent had, none other

To my knowledge, all mutations here on Wolvden appear at birth, and only 4 mutations can be bred for/passed on from parent to child; albinism, melanism, brachycephaly, and hereditary cataracts.
If your wolf doesn't visibly show any of these they may be a carrier, though! You can find out if they are a carrier for any of those 4 by visiting Gene's Hollow Here. A wolf is more likely to be a carrier if one or both parents express a mutation or carry it themselves.

You can read more about them on the Grouse House wiki Here, just scroll down to genetic mutations. It also covers random mutations a little better than I could.
