I'm also trying to narrow down which games to try out. Since I have a switch, I had my eyes on PMD Rescue Team DX, but I still have a fully functioning ds and 3ds, so I wouldn't mind trying some of the older games if people preferred the classics over Rescue Team DX. |

It has been a long time but when it came to the story line I found Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity to be the most heart warming for me….but in end that one and the one found on switch seems to be the similar concept being human turned to Pokemon, which they say at the start, but in the end I enjoy the music of the gates infinity game best. Both games I would recommend due to it being filled with plots and they seem endless much like any dungeon crawler, however it does get dull after some time and it kinda gets on my nerves how your character and companion you choose can't evolve till the end of the game-but I love they ask questions to determine the best Pokemon for you to play as. I think you may find the game on Switch best (DX Team), it had some rather amusing moments in it and can be more challenging with the hunger meter 😈 Feel free to reach me for tips ^^ |

My absolute favorite is Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky. Really hoping they'll remake that like they did Blue/Red Rescue Team (Rescue Team DX, definitely play the remake over the originals, so many QoL changes). Time/Darkness/Sky is just the best of the best, nothing's hit me quite as hard before or after, though Super Mystery Dungeon is really great too, though the start is so sluggish, it actually took me two tries to finally get through it and reach the actually good parts. All PMDs are worth playing, though! I really do recommend all of them, each and every one. I'd maybe start with Time/Darkness/Sky since that's the oldest without a remake now, so some QoL stuff could be missing that might become grating if you start with the newer ones. Then maybe the 3DS ones so Gates to Infinity (which took me two playthroughs to learn to appreciate) and Super, and then Rescue Team DX on the Switch. Or just.. play them in whichever order you can get them. Best to test with one of them first to see if dungeon crawling is something you even enjoy. But the stories and music in them really are top notch! I keep coming back to them time after time. Way better than the main pokemon games, imo, even if I do love those too. @ⱫɎØ, ₮ⱧɆ ฿ⱤØ₭Ɇ₦ ₣ØØⱠ You're a human turned into a pokemon in every PMD. That's a key element in the series. |
