He ran his hand through his hair again, A habit both the twins seemed to share when thinking; Tossling it to the side slightly. He then sighed, glancing up at the building once again; "I hope she didn't go back to that spot.. She knows we have classes soon.." Saege paused as she heard a faint mrrow. "Huh..? Whos' there?" She spoke aloud, glancing up and down the hallway. |

He snapped back to focus when Rowan spoke. "Spot? What spot?" he asked. Jocelyn froze in her tracks when she heard someone speak. She spent half a second trying to decide if the voice, altered as it was by the acoustics of these echoey hallways, belonged to one of the teachers, guards, or other people she generally wouldn't want to face right now. She was almost beyond caring, worried as she was about finding her way back to the hallways she recognized, but still. When she decided that no, she didn't think this was someone who she would be in trouble with, she darted in the direction the voice had come from. She let out another mrrreeow as she ran. The prospect of finally finding someone else in these hallways helped to lessen some of her fear, but not quite low enough yet that she could focus on shifting back. |

He removed his hands from his side, crossing them over his chest as he chewed on his lip anxiously. He turned towards Remington, sputtering, "You good with looking for her now? She normally can care for herself, but I am still worried about her.." Saege paused for a moment, shifting quietly, and padding around in a circle, responding to the mrrreeow with another: Mrrow! the acoustics of the hallways bending it slightly, making it sound a lot more deeper than it actually was. | | | OOC : I wrote this while dying coughing man, I'm surprised I didn't accidentally close the tab and have to start over again xD

He nodded. "Yeah. I've got nowhere to be for a little while." Jocelyn slowed and then stopped again when she heard the sound. It sounded... like another cat? Far deeper pitched than her own meow. If she didn't know better, it'd almost sound like one of Dakota's vocalizations while shifted, but for the facts that Dakota couldn't quite make that sound and that she knew her friend would never be in the building during school hours in her leopard form, much less be vocalizing. That was just enough to let her unending curiosity take over (her friend's and family's only-half-joking warnings about curiosity killing the cat rang somewhere in the back of her mind, unheeded). Was there another shifter? Who was it? What were they doing? Or did a cat somehow find its way into these tunnels? If so, what kind of cat? How? Deciding with wide-eyed wonder that she needed answers, Jocelyn darted in the direction of the sound, meowing a few more times, hoping for a response so she could find the source of the sound she'd heard. [OOC: Aah no xD] |

Saege continued to pad in a circle, seemingly confused; She let out another Mrroww!, this time the sound echoed slightly, though she repeated the sound a few more times, each showing her slight confusion. What was someone else doing in this hallway? In reality, where were they? Who was the person she was communicating with? || OOC: DuDe I'm dying-- I took NyQuil (So I may go to sleep in a moment) and its' not helping-- Also, I can't lay on my right or my back without coughing so hard I almost throw up😭 and I'm suffering over here

On the other hand... He couldn't help but be curious about this hiding spot she had. And knowing what's there and where it is, if I can find it, could be some very valuable information at some point, whispered a somewhat sly voice in his head. So with that, he shook his head. "I'll search outside, I'm... tired of being cooped up all day anyways, I'd like to stretch my legs outside the building for a bit." Jocelyn let out one last meow, twitching her ears back and swiveling them around. She could tell that, whoever this other one was, they weren't far. Indeed, a moment later she rounded a corner in the hallway and skidded to a stop, coming face to face with a feline much larger than she was. She scrambled back a few steps, almost but not quite sitting down, and let out a surprised mew. She had gotten used to Dakota's shifted form being so much bigger than hers, but having this other figure be a stranger caught her off guard. She tilted her head curiously at them. [OOC: Dude are you alright? >.>] |

Saege jumped, not expecting the smaller feline to appear before her. She hadn't expected them to be so.. small.. Nevertheless, she backed up a little, allowing herself to get a better look at Jocelyn. Saege's own shifted form was a little bigger than normal, not seemingly to threatening when she wanted to be, just a sleek, creamy-chocolate and beige-colored; big kitty. || OOC: Nope TwT I just spent a good bit coughing without anything coming up even though I felt it-- It's that one thing of feeling bubbling in your throat after coughing, aka, causing you to cough more TwT

Jocelyn crouched, ducking her head low to the ground, though keeping her ears forward and eyes wide with curiosity. She tilted her head the other way, meowing again. Saege didn't seem to be interested in harming her, which only further fueled Jocelyn's curiosity. She sat up again and sat down, curling her tail around herself. [OOC: >.> I hope you feel better soon. Feeling like that is always lousy. By the way, can they communicate while shifted? Like can Jocelyn and Saege "speak" to each other, or would one/both have to shift back?] |

Saege also tilted her head, mimicking Jocelyn's motions, though her movements were slower so as not to scare her away. She also meowed back, her meow still sounded slightly deep, though that was mostly due to her anatomy as a big cat. She also sat down, licking her paw before dragging it over her face. || OOC: I'm So sorry, I forgot to respond :'D I swear I thought I did-- Anyways, I'm somewhat feeling better, and I would think there would be slight understanding in different vocals, but I wouldn't say as verbal as verbally talking is..

As he went, pride slowly began pricking at his pelt and heart. Sure, he'd slipped out himself a few times -- but he'd never done it during classes that he was obligated to attend, never compromised his attendance. He still remembered the lessons his parents had tried to drill into him, about being reliable, dependable. The officials in charge expected the same, and he was all too willing to please. If that meant finding Rowan's sister and turning them in for having skipped class, so be it; someone had to be an example of what happened when rules were broken, when the laws put in place to make sure society was safe and well-organized were breached. With a renewed determination and the clock on his mind to make sure he got back in time for his first real class of the day, he continued crossing around the forest in search of a scent trail. Having made quick work of her teacher's end-of-class work and gotten permission to go get ready for her next class, Dakota slipped out into the hallway and stood by the door as it closed, taking a deep breath once it clicked shut. She blew it out slowly and ran a hand through her hair. Jocelyn always tried to be punctual, to keep her attendance perfect; Dakota had tried to cover for her and had made up something about Jocelyn feeling sick after leaving for class and having to rush back, but had added that she thought she'd return soon. But her friend never had, and now she was getting worried. Glancing down the hallway, she looked for any indication of her friend. Jocelyn meowed back, her meow sounding pitiful by comparison, especially when her pitch rose at the end like a question. She sat up on her hind legs like a meerkat to get a better view, studying Saege. She couldn't recall ever seeing this person before, and she wondered who they really were. Curiosity had erased the fear that kept her shifted, and she briefly entertained the idea of shifting back. After all, if this other huge cat wanted to harm her, she had a feeling she would've by now -- Jocelyn was certainly not large enough to pose a defensive threat. So, after a long moment's consideration, she dropped back down onto all fours, dipped her head, closed her eyes, and transformed back. [OOC: No worries, I do that plenty myself lol. I'm glad you're feeling better. So like-- understanding different emotions in the sounds they make, but not conveying complex ideas? Eg Saege could maybe understand that Jocelyn is confused/curious/something to that effect in the part I wrote above, but Jocelyn could not convey the exact idea of "I would like to know who you are" nor could Saege identify herself without shifting back, that kind of thing?] |
