Halloween Event!

@ 🐾Brooke🐾[Lights ON!] - Would both of the dialogue options be marked with asterisks in lioden, like it was for this event? Genuine question - I tried Lioden and couldn't get into it haha
Regardless I don't think comparing it to Lioden is fair; there's nothing in wolvden that has indicated that the star would just be extra dialogue. The devs have been pretty clear that these are very separate games from the start, so I don't think assuming features would work similarly with no other evidence is the best idea.
I do still agree that clarity about the asterisk's meaning and impact is needed for the future, though.

@Ghost - Not sure if you mean that specific May example or in general, but in my earlier post I also referenced how LD quests are usually quite clear when you are making a decision that is going to impact your side/story decisions, even with outright warnings sometimes.

@Brooke - Hmm I'm not sure what you mean. I was talking about your most recent post, where you say that - in Lioden - an asterisk indicates that an option will just give you more dialogue as opposed to indicating an important decision. I was asking: if you are presented with two options in Lioden, is there ever an instance where both options have asterisks?

I still feel that comparing wolvden to lioden isn't fair. They're separate games etc

@Ghost - there is, just a little later in the May quest...but the option results are also made quite clear:

- I'd rather stay with V'Kai *
- Join Vashkartzen *

If the option to talk to Kora had been more clearly indicated as 'siding with Kora for now', and not just asking her a question for informational purposes before being prompted to make an ultimate decision either way, it would have definitely changed my selection there... regardless of if it's done via asterisks or not, I just think a little more clarity would go a long way when it comes to a branching storyline

@Brooke- Wait, now I'm super confused haha You said:

"In regards to the 'well it was asterisked' discourse -- my problem with the asterisks is that, on Lioden, sometimes all they mean is 'this will get you extra dialogue'.".

But from what you just gave as an example, those asterisks clearly indicate that you're choosing a side and therefore a plot thread. So why would one automatically assume that the dialogue options in this event with an asterisk on Both of them would be inconsequential extra dialogue? ^^; I'm not sure I follow

Agreed that the wording could be tweaked in this event to make things more clear!

Edit: I just saw that you edited your reply like right before I posted to add that second paragraph! I think I get what you mean now, but I don't think that Lioden's unrelated game mechanics are an issue

"sometimes all they mean is 'this will get you extra dialogue" - I intentionally said sometimes because of that, but as noted here and before, faction/quest-altering decisions on LD are clearly defined, asterisks or not (LD's July quest doesn't use asterisks, but does have subtext provided that tells you who/what your choice will impact storywise...so again, back to the clarity point either way).

(I also honestly can't remember whether both options in the specific 'talk to Kora' part I'm referring to had asterisks or just one, because it's been so long, there've been so many distracting bugs, it's not on GH wiki yet, etc...)

Notation aside, it also just doesn't make sense from a story perspective... just because I ask someone a question, it means I'm immediately ready to join their cause for the next while? I only wanted to hear Kora's side out before making a decision, but apparently it meant my lead was ready to saddle up regardless of whatever she said next XD

Anyway it's 2am here so I'm off to bed before I get as muddled as this event :D

For those curious, I do have the screenshot of the dialogue:

I took that to mean: "Are you going to help me or not?"
1. Yes, tell me what the plan is
2. No, I don't like this

But obviously not everyone agrees haha!

But yeah I just think bringing Lioden into this is completely irrelevant. Not the same game and all.

Let's take the Lioden comparison out of it then - my ultimate point is that there was a lack of clarity, not just for me, but enough for other players to also express confusion at their sides being switched, confusion over how to switch back (with many, including myself, not even recognizing switching back was possible), wondering why they found themselves with one ending or another, and one particular ending/decor being so incredibly difficult to get that I saw it get sold for 100gc(!).

If all of that was crystal clear for you in your experience of this quest, that's great, but it wasn't for everyone, which is why some of us are expressing our confusion & want for more clarity. It won't matter when we can just use a walkthrough next year…but doesn't that also suck the fun out of it a bit if that's the only way to make sure I'm staying on the path I want to be? Anyway, I think we've beaten this dead corrupted horse enough, so that's the last I'll say in this particular back-and-forth.

No yeah I mean we've been agreeing on that point this whole time! Either the asterisks need to be clarified and used throughout to indicate Every faction-relevant choice, or the asterisks need to be dropped and dialogue needs to be tweaked to clarify things. I'm just saying that 1. That particular Kora dialogue did have an indicator that it was important (even if it could/should have been clarified, there Was something there) and 2. Comparisons to Lioden aren't really relevant. We're just splitting hairs at this point!

I still think some decor being ultra rare is both fine (the market will stabilize next year!) and a pretty cool reward for getting a rare ending ^^ I would really like if they continued to offer unique sub-rewards for specific endings.

I've been informed that there was 150+ HP enemy in the story. Ah, I missed that. I hope for this opportunity in the next year and that the story will be consistent when the fight is won.
