RobinFeather trotted after her, grinning. "Wow! Great pounce. We can leave it here in these roots while we continue hunting." Said, pointing his tail towards the knarred trunk of a tree. "I think I smell a few mice."
RobinFeather trotted on, glancing back once to check that FrostPaw was still following. He turned back, slowing down so she could catch up. "You know, I was thinking of talking to WildStar about your warrior's assessment." He stopped, looking around. "You're more than ready." He said, catching the scent of a mouse. "There's a mouse nest that way," He pointed his muzzle towards a small rock hill. "And I can smell another vole behind us. You can take the mice; I'll take the vole. Then we can head back to camp." He purred.
Frostpaw nodded, beaming. I'm going to be a warrior soon! She wanted to purr, but kept quiet. She carefully crept towards the rock hill, scenting the mice.
Creeping forward, she dropped into a hunting crouch, seeing the nest.
Carefully, she made out a flicker of gray within the nest. She waited a few seconds, before leaping. She caught one under her claw, just missing another as it escaped through the grass. Mouse dung! she thought, a bit disappointed in herself.
RobinFeather set off, leaving FrostPaw to the mice as he followed the vole trail. The scent was growing, and RobinFeather could feel his stomach grumbling at the scent. He crouched as soon as he saw the small, pink nose of the vole poking out of the grass and vines. He crouched lower, his haunched bunched up as he prepared to spring. The second that it saw him, he lunged, feeling his claws sink into the vole. It let out a sharp shriek, then silence. He sat down, picking up the vole and turning back to find FrostPaw.
She blinked down at the nest, picking up the mouse within her jaws. I guess one is better than nothing, though, she reminded herself, padding back into the forest to find her mentor.
RobinFeather pricked his ears, spotting FrostPaw. He waved his tail, noting that he couldn't talk right now, but that she should follow him. He led the way back to the other vole, setting his down to talk. "When we get back, I'll tell WildStar that I think you're ready." He added with a grin before picking up both voles and leading the way back to camp.
Twilight'paw didn't know whether to go in the direction of twolegplace or a prey trail that she picked up. She could distinguish it as a mouse, not rabbit or vole. She decided to head in the direction of the mouse trail. I'll need some prey as an excuse why I was out anyways
Twilightpaw trevked onward, following the mouse trail. She noticed that the trail seemed to stop abruptly when she reached a small clearing, dotted by bushes. Robinfeather and Frostpaw's scent bathed it. They were just here she thought. The scent was fresh, but they had obviously left already.
She crouched low for a few minutes to make sure they were gone before setting out again.
Twilightpaw felt great as she reached the border. She could see a few glimpses of twolegplace beyond the trees. Her confidence was stronger than ever. She held her breath as she stepped over the border. Nothing happened as she crossed the scent line. What was I expecting?
