Frostpaw blinked at an oak tree in front of her, flexing her claws. "A quick climb might cheer me up," she muttered to herself, padding forward. She kneaded her claws into the bark, glancing up at the stringy branches.
Twilightpaw felt the wood beneath her paws, sturdy and steady. She walked alongside it. She stepped on a different plank, but this time, it wobbled beneath her. She dug her claws into the shabby wood, but it was too late and she felt herself falling.
RobinFeather set his prey down, trotting to the edge of the clearing of the camp. He glanced around, looking for WildStar. He padded towards the leaders' den, stopping at the entrance. "Hello? I wanted to talk to you about FrostPaw's assessment."
Twilightpaw felt herself fall as she slipped off the wood. She screeched and tried to twist in the air. She landed on the ground with a thump and all the breath was knocked out of her. She quickly scrambled to her paws, and pain sliced through her shoulder like lightning. Behind her, she heard a growl. She whipped around to see a scruffy white dog, its lips peeled back in a snarl
Twilightpaw braced herself. The dog was small, but still a bit bigger than her. The dog yapped in excitement as it leaped for her. She tried to dodge it, but her throbbing shoulder made it hard to fight. Instead of swiftly landing on her feet, she landed clumsily on her stomach. The dog's eyes gleamed as it saw its opportunity.
Twilightpaw felt pain seer through her hind leg as the dog lunged and bit down. She whirled around to face it and nipped at the dogs ears and lashed at its muzzle. The dog yiped in pain but didn't back down. Twilightpaw was afraid that she made the dog's confidence stronger.
The dog leaned toward Twilightpaw with its snapping muzzle. She leaped and clung onto its back with all her might. She screeched with the effort. Suddenly she heard loud footsteps and some rumbling coming from the entrance to the twoleg den. It's coming for me!
At a slow pace, Frostpaw nimbly climbed the tree, latching onto a large branch as she overlooked the forest. Pretty, she thought, blinking curiously at the trees ahead.
Twilightpaw stared in horror as a twoleg stepped out of the den. Its face hardened when it saw the dog. It pointed a finger at the dogs ears, and growled something. The dog yapped in anger, but recoiled from her grip. It shot one last look at Twilightpaw, then limped back inside. The twoleg had turned its gaze to her once the dog had gone.
Frostpaw glanced below her, seeing the grass wave through the wind. She heard distant barking in the clearing, but shrugged it off, assuming it was just a twoleg's dog making a ruckus in their nest.
