"Not bad. The name's Emm. Emm Blackburn." She smiled gently. "You don't have to be scared around here, not now that you've got the Quartermaster on your side. Captain D-"

Tick. Tick. Shoes coming down on the wood floor. A voice spoke, coming up behind Saint. Emm froze, stopping her words dead.

"Miss Blackburn. Who is this?"

"I- Captain- I-" Emm paused to get herself together. "This is Saint. The Quartermaster said-"

"You went to her before you came to me?"

"You were angry. I didn't think you would re-"

"You didn't think. You know I don't take stowaways."

"Give him a chance! He's a damn nice boy and he can shut up and take orders!" Emm didn't mean to snap, but her sudden outburst silenced the captain, whose head tilted ever so slightly to the left and eyes seemed to glow a dim red.

Saint took a small step back, surprised at the woman - Emm's - outburst. Everything was loud. What the hell was going on? Saint should've just stayed home like the 'nice boy' he was. He would've felt trapped, but at least he wouldn't have to be afraid for his life.

This was the captain. The scary looking woman in front of him. Saint didn't dare to speak, not when she looked as if she could kill a person.

Most likely Saint.

The captain sighed. "Blackburn, I need you on deck in five. Make sure Crystal gets up before then. Kid, come with me," she beckoned for Saint to follow her. Emm gave Saint a 'good luck' look then ducked away, deciding she didn't want to irritate the captain any more than she already had. Deriva studied Saint for a moment then walked away, expecting the boy to follow. If he didn't, she knew she could make him. She could teleport, after all.

Saint hurried to scramble after the captain after a short moment of silence, fear tinting the blue of his eyes. He didn't know what was about to happen, whether it would be good or bad. He felt so out of place, like a deer in headlights. While he wore silks and warm wool, the crew wore what might've been leather or something from some other animal.

He chose to stay quiet, mostly due to the fact that he was sure he'd get killed if he spoke a word but also due to fear. He couldn't tell what kind of supernatural the captain was, which was strange. He usually could always tell, due to his werewolf senses. The captain was powerful, he could tell that much.

"You won't get shot unless you try to harm any of my crew. I'm sure you have questions. Now is your chance to ask them, whatever they are. Once we're off the dock, you can bother Emm with any questions you have. Your job is easy. Keep the ship clean. We'll see if you're capable enough to move up later." Deriva decided she'd get straight to the point. She didn't really care if Saint was scared- nobody reasonably wasn't scared of her and she knew it. Her tone as she spoke wasn't harsh, but it wasn't kind. It was more... indifferent.
