the 'deer' hunters followed in awkward silence. sarju stayed behind vera and covered his tracks while vellar was simply gazing around. meghna stayed in the back and swished her tail over the snow to cover up her and vellars tracks.

"it seems simple enough," sarju answered, flashing a slight smile.

"yeah, just eat grass and stick together," vellar said with a shrug. she learned down to the ground and wrinkled her snout at the green sprigs shooting out through the snow, "well pretend to eat grass."

meghna quietly followed vera's movements, wrinkling her nose slightly when she felt the close blades of grass. vellar blew at the sprigs, already bored.

"should we howl to tell them we're ready?" sarju asked as he lowered her his head, remembering what varuna said.

"I see," sarju said before also lowering his head like a deer. it felt strange to him but he kept an eye out.

"we better not be here all day," vellar muttered, having little hope.

the wolves stood in silence as they pretended to be prey for what seemed like eons but were only minutes. vellar seemed to be getting impatient and flopped down to roll in the snow. not traditional deer behavior but it had the same effect regardless. easy prey.

the mountains were also silent, except for the sound of the wind whistling. once, meghna heard a snap and raised her head in alert but relaxed once she saw a bird holding a twig in it's beak.

"if they don't show up, do we win a prize or something?" vellar huffed while sitting up slightly. "we better get something-" the wolf seemed like she was about to say 'good; before a fuzzy figure burst from the foliage. the hunters were here and suvi had tackled vellar, trapping the other wolf beneath her. at the same time, the other hunters emerged, lunging after their own deer.
