NaNoWriMo says I have written 223k words so far (including all my drafts). Anyway, here's a shot at a summary. Good practice, I suppose. (sorry it took so long to write up)

The dragon lords, ancient beings of untold power, are charged with the care and well-being of their planet's inhabitants. A once peaceful world prospered under the benevolence of the dragons until humanity emerged. The dragon lords treated the new humans with ambivalence, seeing no difference between them and the other fauna. But as eons passed and humanity rose, it became clear that the dragons could no longer ignore their newest tenants. Some dragons distanced themselves from humanity, fearing their unique curiosity. Other dragons devised plans to counter humanity, as they had witnessed how drastically these new beings twisted the land. But even fewer embraced the new species, grew fond of individuals, and established friendships.

Centuries after the dust has settled, Lord Strellidor wishes to understand what his brother saw in humanity. In an attempt to reconnect with his distant brother, Strellidor severed a fraction of his soul into a dying human babe. Perhaps becoming human would open Strellidor's eyes. But the meddling of dragons has seldom ever favored the humans who crossed their paths. And it is time for humanity to make its final stand, tired of always being caught in the crossfire.

Thank you. I still don't think it is a good summary since the protagonists are human. But I didn't know how to make it make sense without the lore drop.
