Incognito mode disabled for viewing profiles/dens.

As the title says, I am wanting to put out a suggestion for the devs to look into disabling the ability for incognito mode to be able to work to view players dens/profiles, and also pages of wolves. I personally feel that the ability to view peoples pages while not being logged in should be disabled, as I believe it is often abused by players who have members blocked, but still want a way to look at the persons profile. (Aka block evading). I have personally dealt with this problem, and I feel that it kind of ruins the block function if they can still see your page.

I'm not the best at wording things, so if anyone has anything to add, please do so. I feel that the pros outweigh the cons as far as taking away the ability to view members incognito mode.

Another idea, would be to give players the option to have their profiles hidden while incognito, or not to have it hidden, with some sort of option at the bottom of your profile page you can pick from. I know some people do rely on incognito mode while they are not rolling to check on things.

What's the point of block button if the person still can view what you say, view your wolves, your profile etc? Things like trading center or wardrobe are already disabled in incognito so why not player pages too?

Supported ✅

The whole snooping when someone has you blocked, is trashy asf. There's a reason why the block button exists.

I partially support. What is the point of a block when someone can get around it however, I also like to use incognito to check my den in case a female I am waiting to be bred has been bred or to check the found wolves form to see if any of my chases have been found.

Maybe there could be a selection on your den page profile page where you could select to be invisible and incognito as well? Just so the people that are using it for good purposes don't loose that?

I think this would be awesome for those trying to get around blocks, but having a way to check your own den while not rolling is also nice for those waiting for stud requests to be accepted, so the idea to have a switch on if incognito works on a profile or not is a great idea if that's a possibility!

There is a reason blocking exists, and the ability to have the option to further protect those who blocked someone is a attractive idea, especially as a toggle that can be changed just like enabling traveling wolves. That way if you want to turn that option on and off depending on the circumstances you can!

I don't know if I can support this. I can understand the block evasion part, but as a player who frequently goes on hiatus, I look at my account all the time when I'm not logged in. It also helps when I'm waiting for/looking into something that involves another player (such as art commissions, studding, just wanting to look at a wolf I recognize to see how they're doing, etc.) and they haven't been online in a while either, so I can check to see if they'd gotten on without having to roll over just to see.

I can completely get why people would support, but for someone like me, this would almost be a punishment for the actions of other players by stopping me from viewing my own account. A toggle would at least give people a choice in the matter, and I'd consider supporting that. As it is, I won't support or oppose since I can see both sides.

Edit: After returning to this suggestion, I've come to the conclusion that I'll have to oppose. It's just too punishing for the majority who haven't done anything wrong and, as John says on the 2nd page, evaders will ultimately find a way around it anyway. Didn't want to make a new post, but wanted to make my stance clear.

It would be troublesome for users not rolling over until an owner of their desired stud rolls over who also decides to disable their profile and den access to not logged viewers. Artists will be less credited by the users with disabled profiles which contain their art. Also, this can be abused by players who decide to steal art posting on profile/den page then block the artist disabling the page.

For those wondering what the block is for if blocked users can see your profiles: the main purpose of the block is to prevent communicating and interacting with the user so the user can't bother you. If the blocked user doesn't send you messages, trade offers, stud requests, chat posts - the block fulfills its purpose. The block function does even more than that like disabling profiles, hiding names in some places which works both ways (the blocked player same as the blocking player) - I'm not fan of these extra features that simply make blocked users more aware of the block without even interacting with them.

However, I fail to notice how blocked users seeing your profile is a problem - they can't talk to you about it. Could you give any specifics supporting the idea?

@DZ

I can give you an example.

I have said user blocked. Cool right? Said user is using incognito to snipe all of my rechases, look at my info on said dogs to reclaim as theirs. Not only that but they also decide to start throwing indirects, become a nuisance, coping dogs styles etc etc.

Meaning they are relatively watching my profile even within the block. Now me trying to reclaim said kids is becoming an issue.

Couldn't possibly be reported as harassment as they don't say anything about me, but the intention is there, get me?

Can I be the bigger person and ignore? Sure. But at what cost does me keeping my peace and tranquility have to go?

I'd think the toggling option would be the best route to go. So at least I know they cant see my things. Have everyone's turned off and if they wanna go the extra mile with keeping it more private, toggle it on.

Half of the examples is not an issue since you can't see their content anyway as long as you don't intend to peek on. Regarding claiming rechases - it's officially stated that chased wolves by you are no longer yours and I think this rule should be emphasized rather than giving restrictions to all players just to favor players reclaiming wolves looking identical to previously chased ones.

It is kind of an issue if said person is doing it on purpose.

And lol, it's an example. It's ok if you don't understand, glad you don't have to deal with what I'm currently dealing with. And I'm not going to cloud up Eiras forum on my issues. Just pointed out why personally I'd want at least a little bit more secured, at least from my stand point.

I can see why people wouldn't, for example you with art. I get that lol. But just how you wouldn't like someone to steal art, I'd like my profile to stay hidden from said person as it's supposed to be to begin with.
