Hunting in home biomes

Hunting in home biomes

So I moved my wolves over from one of the starter biomes (Deciduous) to the Taiga biome for fun and for flavor, but I also thought that since the Taiga was my wolves' new home they would have better odds of hunting there, but it seems like whenever I send them out to go hunting in the Taiga it's a total crapshoot. Even with my highest leveled wolves hunting, they can usually only scent critter trails and their percentages is low. Are there no benefits to changing your biome besides personal flavor?

Because of biome difficulty. Taiga has a higher difficulty so...you'll need higher stat wolf. Home biome does not provide you with higher odds in hunting.

Here's a biome difficulty chart(it's not created by me):

You will need wolves with at least 200 Stats (in their corresponding role stats) for better odds in challenging biomes. This means stalkers will need at least 200 Stats in both wisdom and smarts, so your hunting parties would most likely need wolves over 500 stats or so. It will be pretty difficult to get food in challenging biomes with starter wolves (NBWs), so you'll most likely need to hunt in less challenging biomes while your wolves increase or breed higher stat pups

There is a pretty major benefit to hunting in challenging biomes which is exp! The higher difficulty biomes will give wolves more exp and even the larger prey hunts will increase exp
I would only reccomend moving to a challenging biome if you want to improve your wolves' stats and potentially breed higher stat wolves. Otherwise, it might be more stressful than fun. Winters will lower your chances of success which would make your food stock lower very quickly

Thank you both for your answers! (I would @ you both but honestly, I don't know how Wolvden's forums operate that well).

@Narlord, I had seen that map before but I thought it was attributed to what stats the Scouts need to adequately discover it, so that's a lot more helpful now!

And thank you @Uva for your detailed explanation, it makes a lot more sense as to why my wolves have been having a hard time. I really appreciate you explaining it to me!
