Lusserina's eyes narrowed and she searched the darkness for a sign of the other wolf. There had to be a glimmer of something, even if it was just the reflection in his eyes. But it was dark and the rain was coming down too hard. She could see nothing but the pup by her side.

"Show yourself," she commanded, steeling her voice to sound brave. If it came to a fight, she was unsure of her chances. Seeing the other wolf would help her gauge them better, but with a pup at her side she was already at a disadvantage. 		Nuff

The pouring rain pounded on the black wolfs thick coat. Rebel snarled, only to be muffled slightly by the heavy rain. "Why are you here?" He called, keeping his cover.

Lusserina looked between the darkness and the pup beside her. It was escalating too fast. At this rate there would be a fight.

"Calm yourselves," she snapped. "We are merely lost in the woods and searching for a dry place to stay the night." 		Nuff

The scoff that Rebel exhaled was swallowed by the rain, he stepped out of the dark, his big figure looming against the gray forest. His head was low, staring at the young un with annoyance.

Silverstripe dimmed the light behind him. He grew smaller. "If a fight you don't want, sure, but I can if you do."

"Breathe," Lusserina said, steadying herself. "The last thing we need is to be at each other's throats right now."

It was cold, they were wet and muddy. If they did not find shelter soon it could be their end. Besides, there were far scarier things in the dark than other wolves.

The low scratching noise behind the three of them was one of them. 		Nuff

Rebel looked up at the she-wolf, he was usually not a, as the Others would say, a hospitable wolf, but he looked at the older wolfs eyes. She was tired and he knew it.
He turned around and slunk off back into the night. "Follow me." He grumbled.

Getting soft huh? his own mind teased him.

Lusserina's body nearly sagged in relief. "Come, pup," she said quietly to not alert whatever it was making the noise. "Some questions are better left unanswered."

She could remember her mother's stories. Creatures far more fearsome than bears or other wolves lurked in the darkness. She did not want to find out what they were. 		Nuff
