year one: spring

moon of the first howl

- Helaiuc's birth pack is attacked and destroyed by its neighbours, its alphas executed before her eyes. Fleeing, she spends around a month travelling alone until she reaches the mountains.
- Chirwisorlosa leaves her birth pack to seek out a more exciting life. After a short journey, she also arrives in the mountains. She and Helaiuc encounter each other and decide that they will do better together.
- A few days later, they resolve to start a pack of their own. To mark the change, they choose new names for themselves; Helaiuc chooses the name Hryhoolou, in honour of her place as the first alpha, and Chirwisorlosa chooses the name Uruhouou in honour of the bright blue eyes that first caught Hryhoolou's attention.
- While patrolling their new territory and establishing borders, Hryhoolou runs into the brothers Olsac and Oroulepac. She invites them to join, and both agree.
- To ensure the Pines' next generation, Hryhoolou and Olsac mate. Two pups, Rulahou and Aulosac, are born.
- Uruhouou becomes the pack's first hunter, Olsac their first denminder, and Oroulepac the first scout.
- Travelling to exchange supplies with another pack, Hryhoolou meets Kaufolac, an older adolescent looking for a pack to join. His silvery fur draws her attention, and she invites him to join the Pines.
- Out on a hunt, Uruhouou finds herself competing for the kill with a strange fiery-coloured wolf. They inadvertently end up working together to take down their prey; the stranger introduces herself as Irhakrou, and an impressed Uruhouou invites her to join the Pines. Irhakrou becomes a chaser of the Blue Hunt, led by Uruhouou.
- The scent of another wolf is found in the territory, and when Hryhoolou goes to investigate it, she finds an older lone wolf at the trail's end. Seeing his wisdom, she encourages him to join them. He agrees to join as a second chaser and introduces himself as Houwac.

- Irhakrou grows increasingly impertinent and rebellious under the authority of two much younger wolves. After Houwac joins the hunt, he begins attempting to put Irhakrou in her place himself, believing that this will help Uruhouou. It in fact does the opposite; Irhakrou is only further aggravated, thinking that Uruhouou is unable to fight her own battles and that Houwac is weak for submitting.
- This tension comes to a head when Hryhoolou suddenly falls ill. Under the stress, Uruhouou struggles even more than usual to keep her hunters in line; one attempt at a hunt ends in a scuffle between Houwac and Irhakrou, and Houwac disappears into the treeline.
- Assuming that Houwac has had enough and abandoned the pack entirely, Uruhouou and a mildly chastened Irhakrou return to their camp. To their surprise, Houwac returns not long after they do, with a poultice that he uses to treat Hryhoolou’s sickness.
- Over the next few days, Hryhoolou begins to recover from her illness. Houwac tells Uruhouou that he will be leaving the Blue Hunt to become the Pines’ first herbalist, news that Uruhouou is delighted to hear. She gives him her blessing.

moon of new blossoms

- While Hryhoolou continues to recover, Uruhouou and Irhakrou go out in search of Houwac’s replacement in the Blue Hunt. Eventually they meet a lone dispersal who gives them no name, but offers to hunt with them as a test of her ability. The hunt goes well, and satisfied with the newcomer’s hunting skills, Uruhouou accepts her into the Pines.
- Though at first suspicious of the stranger who gives them no name, Irhakrou is gradually swayed by the newcomer’s charm, and they become firm friends. The tension within the Blue Hunt is reduced to almost nothing, Irhakrou’s moods tempered by a few careful words from her new companion.
- At almost the end of spring, the Blue Hunt returns from an expedition having managed to fell a doe. The entirety of the Pines comes together to celebrate their catch. Irhakrou suggests that their newest member take the name Argamiwou, deer-chaser, in honour of this feat, and Argamiwou accepts her new name with gratitude.

year one: summer

moon of sunlit grasses

- Argamiwou wakes one morning coughing and feverish. Houwac determines that she has caught influenza, and tends to her with a poultice. A few days later, she recovers without issue.

- Travelling north on his scouting missions in search of the tundra, Oroulepac discovers the taiga past the coniferous forest. Hryhoolou, who is growing concerned over the number of new packs in the mountains and fears being crowded out, asks him to investigate its viability as a future home.

- In a hunt gone badly, Irhakrou and Argamiwou are both injured. To Irhakrou’s annoyance, they spend the rest of the day being tended by Houwac.

moon of blazing heat

- Kaufolac reaches his first year of age and is inducted as the pack’s second scout. He begins exploring to the east and the south, discovering the riparian woodland and the desert.

- As the new members begin coming into heat, Hryhoolou decides it is time for more pups to be born. Oroulepac is chosen as the most suitable male, and Irhakrou is the first to become pregnant with his pups.

- Argamiwou is badly wounded by a whitetail deer while taking it down, though manages to succeed in killing it.

- Kaufolac returns from an expedition with the pack’s first case of mange.

- Uruhouou is injured in a hunt gone badly. The second bad injury in a moon prompts Hryhoolou and Uruhouou to decide that the pack needs another hunting party, so that if one hunt has an injured member there is another ready to take their place.

- Out patrolling the territory, Hryhoolou comes across an older dispersal, who introduces herself as Oscutuhur and explains that her pack was scattered by humans. Hryhoolou invites her into the pack, and Oscutuhur accepts.

- Uruhouou becomes pregnant with Oroulepac’s litter.

- Having deemed the taiga safe enough, Oroulepac moves further north and is delighted to discover the long-awaited tundra.

- Oscutuhur requests a second hunter to help her bring down larger prey. A day later, Hryhoolou returns from an expedition with the new recruit Hwemalrusu, a young but eager dispersal.

- At the very end of summer, Irhakrou is finally convinced to go on leave from hunting and take up a birthing nest.

- Irhakrou has a litter of four pups.

- Rulahou and Aulosac reach sixth months of age and become trainees. They are assigned Olsac, Oroulepac, and Uruhouou as mentors.

- Argamiwou becomes pregnant with Oroulepac’s litter.

- Uruhouou goes on leave from hunting to take up a birthing nest, bearing a litter of four pups a few days later.

- Fearing that he might be overwhelmed caring for all of the new pups, Olsac asks Hryhoolou to recruit a new denminder. On a visit to the riparian woodlands, she meets Khosrhac, who asks to – rather, insists on – joining her pack almost before she can greet him, and promises to take good care of their pups. He becomes a denminder under Olsac’s guidance.

- The Blue Hunt successfully catches their first bull elk, though Uruhouou is wounded in the process.

- One morning, a pup of Irhakrou’s goes too close to an eroding riverbank and falls in. He escapes, but in the process grazes his leg against a sharp rock.

- After going on leave from hunting, Argamiwou bears a litter of four pups.

- The Blue Hunt faces more difficulties with their hunts: Argamiwou is injured by a pronghorn she kills, and a few days later, Uruhouou is badly kicked by an elk.

- Oroulepac catches sight of the distant glacier past the tundra. Returning home, he asks Hryhoolou for permission to investigate it further. Hryhoolou refuses, asking him to stay closer to home as winter approaches, and Oroulepac reluctantly agrees.

- Irhakrou’s litter is weaned, and she returns in full to her duties as a hunter.

- Argamiwou and Irhakrou are both badly wounded by a particularly stubborn bighorn.

year one: winter

moon of falling snow

- During playtime, the pups decide to charge head-first at each other as the elk do. By the time the denminders break up the game, one of Uruhouou’s pups sports a new bruise on her forehead.

- When the pups are taken to play outside, an eagle attempts to take one of them. The pups scatter and run for cover, but one of the slowest, a pup from Irhakrou’s litter, is taken. Hwemalrusu and Irhakrou are sent to chase the eagle down in case the pup can be recovered, but the eagle is soon lost to them, and the pup is presumed dead.

- That night, one of the pup’s littermates sneaks out while the pack is sleeping, hoping to find his sibling. The pup is missing in the morning, and attempts to track his scent prove futile.

- Uruhouou’s litter is weaned, and she returns in full to her duties as a hunter.

- Oscutuhur develops stughn, and spends a few days recovering.

- After a fierce storm, a young pup is found alone in the Pines’ territory, separated from her pack in the rain. She is unable to remember how to find her pack. Olsac and Khosrhac, still mourning the recent losses of the two pups, convince Hryhoolou that the Pines should take her in as their own. Hryhoolou agrees, and the pup, Ruhad, officially joins them as a member.

- While outside of camp under the supervision of the denminders, one pup does not return with the others when called. His scent trail ends with the overwhelming stink of cougar.

- Houwac and the denminders are kept busy after one of Uruhouou’s pups tears his ear on a twig, one of Irhakrou’s pups injures her leg, and Khosrhac becomes badly sick. All recover over the next few days without lasting effect.

- Argamiwou’s litter is weaned, and she returns to her hunting duties in full.

- A pup goes missing one day, returning long afterwards exhausted and covered in ant bites. Two of the other pups later sneak out to find the ant nest for themselves, and do not return.

- Returning from an expedition to the north, Oroulepac comes across his and Olsac’s younger sister, Ichinu. She is accompanied by another dispersal, who introduces herself as Siherral. Oroulepac invites them both to join the Pines, and the pair readily agree, taking roles as chasers in the Icemelt Hunt.

- Oroulepac catches ticks while out on a patrol.

- Hryhoolou becomes pregnant with Oroulepac’s litter.

- Over the last moon of winter, three more orphaned pups are found in and around the Pines’ territory.

moon of the first howl

- Rulahou and Aulosac reach their first year of age. Rulahou becomes a denminder, and Aulosac joins the Blue Hunt as a chaser.
- Irhakrou’s two remaining pups reach six months of age, as does Ruhad. All three begin their training.
- A pair of wolves intrude on the Pines’ territory, until finally met by Hryhoolou. She barely manages to drive them off, and is injured in the process; later, one of her wounds becomes infected.
- Two of Argamiwou’s pups go out exploring by themselves. Olsac and Oroulepac follow their trails to find one of their bodies at the foot of a cliff, and the other gone without a trace.

- Two of the foundlings reach six months of age and become trainees.
- Another two orphans are brought into the pack. One of them, Nisemolso, grows extremely close with Rulahou, who becomes her main caretaker despite her young age.
- Uruhouou’s pups reach six months of age and become trainees.
- Kaufolac catches ear mites while on an expedition.
- Hryhoolou takes up a nest and has two pups.
- A foundling begins their training.
- Exploring outside of the Pines’ main territory, Hryhoolou fights with a young bear. She returns battered but victorious.

moon of new blossoms

- Argamiwou's last remaining pup, Hicursei, reaches six months of age and becomes a trainee.
- Though Kaufolac’s ear mites are cured, it transpires that at some point they were caught by Irhakrou. Reluctantly, she allows Houwac to treat her as well.
- The Icemelt Hunt brings down a bighorn ram, but Siherral is badly gored by its horns in the process. She spends some days recovering.
- Oscutuhur catches influenza.
- Nisemolso reaches six months of age and becomes a trainee. She persuades Houwac to train her as a herbalist.
- When Siherral has healed, she takes leave to find a sire for her first litter. She returns expecting pups.

- While chasing down a deer, Siherral reopens her recently-healed wound, and is forced to take longer off to make sure that she heals and that her unborn pups are safe.
- Argamiwou is kicked in the flank by a frightened sheep.
- Oscutuhur recovers from influenza, but by the time she heals it has already passed to Hryhoolou. It then is caught by one of Hryhoolou’s pups, Rhuhra, and the trainee foundling Rihulile.
- When Oscutuhur recovers, she sees to it that the Pines have a steady supply of food, before leaving to find a sire for her litter.

- Hryhoolou’s litter is weaned, and Hryhoolou and Rhuhra recover from their sickness. Rihulile recovers as well after treatment from Houwac.
- A foundling, Lulou, reaches six months of age and becomes a trainee.
- Hwemalrusu catches a cough.
- Ichinu becomes pregnant with Kaufolac’s litter.
- Siherral has a litter of four pups.

- Kaufolac returns from an expedition with a bad case of mange, and is quickly ushered to Houwac for treatment.
- Hwemalrusu twists his leg while chasing down prey, and spends a few days recovering.
- The Blue Hunt runs into another group of wolves hunting the same herd of elk, and they get into a fight, exacerbated by the startled elk beginning to flee. Aulosac receives a nasty bite on one shoulder.
- Hryhoolou roams far from the mountains one day and finds a young caribou. She decides to try and kill it so it can be brought back to the others, but the resulting scuffle leaves her badly injured and hurrying home.
- Irhakrou loses a tooth when a particularly stubborn deer wrenches free of her grip.
- Oscutuhur has a litter of five pups.
- Bear-scent is found in the territory, and Hryhoolou takes a patrol of Olsac, Kaufolac, and Oroulepac to investigate. They manage to scare the bear off, but all are variously wounded, and one of Hryhoolou’s injuries later becomes infected.

moon of the chilled air

- Ichinu has a litter of five pups.
- Irhakrou’s two pups and Ruhad reach their first year of age. Ruhad becomes a finisher of the Icemelt Hunt, while Irhakrou’s pups disperse from the pack.
- Siherral’s litter is weaned.
- Uruhouou and Aulosac are attacked by an aggressive bull elk; they escape without severe injury, but both receive somewhat of a bashing from its antlers.
- One of Oscutuhur’s pups falls down a hill and is scratched by a sharp branch.

- A foundling reaches his first year of age and disperses from the pack.
- When trying to chase a rabbit, one pup trips and injures her leg, while the other gets her head stuck in the too-small burrow and panics. They are quickly rescued by Olsac.
- Uruhouou’s two pups reach their first year of age. One, Suwhiwha, disperses alongside the foundling Rihulile, with the intention of starting their own pack together; his sister Solmalires leaves with them.
- Hryhoolou’s newest pups reach six months of age and become trainees.
- A pup of Ichinu’s returns with part of his ear bitten off, having played with some coyote pups. He is bloodied and upset, but recovers quickly under Houwac’s care.
- Two pups, Sasarha’soruc and Hutehah, get in a scrap over the last bit of grouse meat. Although Sasarha’soruc is bitten a few times, she manages to wrestle Hutehah to the ground and ultimately wins the fight.
- A foundling, Hehenar, reaches his first year of age and disperses from the pack.

- Soon after Oscutuhur’s litter is weaned, one of her pups is killed by a rattlesnake, and her body found later the same day. Oscutuhur is badly shaken by the loss.
- Hicursei reaches her first year of age and becomes a chaser of the Blue Hunt.
- Hryhoolou’s younger daughter, Imarlu, leaves suddenly in the night. Her trail is followed to the edge of another pack’s territory; when the patrol returns, it transpires through Rhuhra’s admission that Imarlu befriended a wolf from this pack, and was convinced to leave and join them. The Pines reluctantly decide that Imarlu has made her choice, and it is not worth a fight with a pack of unknown strength to try and reclaim her.
- Ruhad is injured in a hunt when she loses her grip on a deer’s neck and falls underneath it. She is more shaken than hurt, but is told by Houwac to rest for a day or two anyway.
- One of Ichinu’s pups dies from an infected insect bite.
- Oscunau, one of Oscutuhur’s pups, falls from a boulder while trying to chase a squirrel.
- Ichinu’s litter is fully weaned.
- Nisemolso reaches her first year of age and becomes a fully-fledged herbalist.
- Hwemalrusu and Ichinu are both badly bruised while hunting elk, although they manage to kill an older elk successfully.

year two: winter

moon of falling snow

- In the middle of the night, Ichinu’s pup Sarrel is badly bitten by a fly. His yelp wakes Rulahou, who soothes him back to sleep and examines his injury, deciding to keep an eye on it.
- Sasarha’soruc passes away, and it transpires that one of her injuries from her frequent fights with the other pups went unnoticed, festering as a result.
- Two orphan pups are discovered on the edge of the Pines’ territory and adopted into the pack.
- The Icemelt Hunt spends several days trekking through the snow in pursuit of their latest quarry. Eventually, they decide to return back to camp empty-mouthed; on their arrival, it becomes apparent that Ruhad has caught some sickness while out in the cold, and she spends a few more days recovering in Houwac’s den.
- While running around, Sarrel trips over a rabbit burrow and injures his leg.

- The Blue Hunt is laid up when Irhakrou, Hicursei, and Argamiwou all develop severe chills after long expeditions in the snow.
- On reaching her first year of age, the foundling Lulou disperses, intending to form her own pack elsewhere.
- After investigating an anthill, Sarrel returns whimpering and covered in fire ant bites.
- Three new orphans are adopted into the Pines.
- Siherral’s pups reach six months of age and become trainees.
- Irhakrou becomes pregnant with an outside wolf’s litter.

- Aulosac catches mange.
- Another three foundlings are adopted over the course of a few days.
- Oscutuhur’s litter reaches six months of age and begins their training.
- A lone dispersal, Sastilanor, is brought back from the prairies to join the Pines. When she arrives, she and Siherral recognise each other, having been members of the same natal pack. Sastilanor takes a position as a lone hunter.

moon of the first howl

- Ichinu’s litter and four of the foundlings reach six months of age, and begin their training.
- Hryhoolou briefly courts a wolf of a nearby pack, whose name is Tundra Runner. Though they do not become romantically involved, Tundra sires her next litter.
- Argamiwou and Uruhouou travel to the northern taiga in search of sires for their litters. Argamiwou finds a mate fairly easily, while Uruhouou becomes entangled with Badger, a mysterious wolf around whom she senses some sort of dark energy. After becoming pregnant with his litter, she tries to convince him to leave with her, but ultimately fails and is driven away by his pack.

- Four foundlings begin their training.
- The Icemelt Hunt encounters another hunting patrol while chasing their quarry; the two groups get into a fight, ending with the other patrol fleeing but leaving Oscutuhur wounded.
- Aulosac and Irhakrou are both injured in a stampede of elk, though the Blue Hunt ultimately manages to down a young bull. Irhakrou is more badly wounded, and Houwac orders her to rest until her pups are born.
- A foundling reaches six months of age and becomes a trainee.
- Irhakrou has her litter, but the birthing goes poorly; one of the two pups is stillborn, and the other weak.
- Hryhoolou has a litter of four pups.

- Rhuhra, Hryhoolou’s remaining son of her second litter, reaches his first year of age and disperses from the pack.
- Kaufolac develops mange again.
- Ichinu gains a nasty scratch on her chest from an elk she is chasing, though the Icemelt Hunt manages to kill it in the end.
- Argamiwou has a litter of three pups.
- Uruhouou has a litter of five pups, all of whom are healthy and appear untouched by whatever force was affecting their father.
- Sastilanor becomes a denminder to assist with the excess of pups.
- Oroulepac returns from an expedition with fleas.
- The Blue Hunt attempts to corner an elk calf, with Hicursei and Aulosac distracting its mother. They manage to find the calf, but the mother drives away Aulosac and Hicursei and attacks Uruhouou. With Hicursei and Uruhouou both wounded, the Blue Hunt flees to safety.
- Ichinu’s wound is reopened when she is kicked by a small deer, though the overall injury is not as bad.
