just curious: do you find males on wolvden useless?

I like having males, they keep me from breeding too much XD. I have too many wolves as it is and if I have more males, I have less chances to just breed out everyone and everything! |

I find them a little useless to have around due to the studding restrictions. If more then one of them have decent traits, stats, or a decent coat, it can't be passed on unless they are the studding male unfortunately. Luckily though however, there is a item that lets you swap a wolf's gender if you can afford it which I guess makes up for it if you wish for that wolf to have puppies. |

I don't mind males, but I will sex change them eventually! Having a few males is nice to avoid the itch of breeding every heat, but it feels pointless to level and increase their stats when they cannot be passed to the next generation imo All my males will eventually get a sex change, when I feel their stats are adequate. |

Why are people still using the pregnancy defense on behalf of males? I'm honestly wondering. Pregnancy isn't an issue in the least; the energy debuff is almost unnoticeable because of how little it changes, my pregnant females can keep up with the rest just fine. And I just nest them last minute on the last day, easy. So how is that a reason for males to be equal to/better than females? Like legit, is there something I'm not seeing here??? (And as for the inability to ignore heats... Not trying to be rude, but that's not a defense either, it's just a personal issue. I ignore heats all the time, it's not like there's a penalty to ignore them.) When I heard about this game, I was excited that it wouldn't be Lioden 2.0, because I stopped liking/playing LD years ago. But what do you know, one of my biggest gripes about LD transferred over. (Only 1 breeding male.) As the game is, I'm never keeping a male for gameplay reasons. I won't ever buy them, I won't ever sell them, I'll chase them as soon as my females have the misfortune of birthing them. Sure, they aren't 'useless,' but they're inferior in every way. Because they just can't pass on anything of importance. (Whether it's for stats, for looks, for sales, for certain playstyles, and especially imo, for lore.) If the male issue doesn't bug you, all the more power to you. I honestly wish I could be more like that, because then I wouldn't feel dissatisfied literally EVERY time I see a male. But alas. |

I think that their usefulness in every role more than compensates for being genetically useless. Most of my pack roles are taken by males in my pack. |

yes. no doubt about it. my only males here and here because they serve a lore purpose and/or im waiting on a sex change. makes me sad because i want more equal genders amongst my wolves, but males are functionally useless if i want to breed, and there isnt much point keeping them around. |

I feel like I'm in the minority when I say that I do find males useful and I do like having them in my pack - but I will say I find them useful mainly because females can't do anything when they're nested. I just think if I had an entire pack of females (except for my stud), it would feel a bit too much like Lioden for me. I also already have the problem of so many of my females going into heat/having pups all at the same and not having enough pupsitters to handle it, so for me anyway, males are helping me from just breeding my pack completely out of control. |

Males are definitely pretty useless. If he looks nice, I either have to decide if I want to retire the current breeding male or sex change him, otherwise he's just sitting there looking pretty. Yeah they can do everything females can without pregnancy getting in the way, but that's not enough reason for me to find them to be actually useful. At this rate the only reason I keep some males is sentimentality and I prefer males for the scout and herbalist roles, and even then they also have to be kinda bland since there's no reason to have a nice looking male if he can't breed imo. |

Yeah, objectively they are useless. :/ Something I haven't seen mentioned in this thread yet is that the one breeder rule also disincentivizes having a male lead wolf: |
