ok here's an idea

2 ranches of humans are against eachother,a herd of horses becomes chaos as humans start catching them to tame mostly just to go after each others ranches

Kinda bad I'll think of a better one Xd

Stolen cattle leads to cattle war
Guns
Indians (cause why not, but not a war against them or anything, like peace with them)
Horse breakers (people who are really good at taming aka breaking horses)
Brands (Come up/look up brand symbols)
Wyoming, South Dakota, Montana area.
Bitter winter
Horses may start to rival/friend with eachother
Floods
