dusk

The mares ears pricked at the sound of horses trotting and humans speaking. She stepped back into some trees mostly hidden by the thickly close grown trees next to her and the shadows.

After the sound drifted away she stepped back into the field continuing to graze. Her life was mostly simple, avoid humans, eat, sleep and drink, maybe a fun run through a field on a boring day.

Another kiss of winters deadly reminder that it was coming hit Innis's face. She needed to find a better shelter, and fast.

Stumbling as she rose, she trotted on, hoping to find something a little more survivable to hunker down in.
She was running on a good pace and adrenaline, stumbling every now and again.

The trees all around her creaked in the wind, leaving Innis uneasy, feeling as if this forest was haunted.

Moving towards the crystal-clear water, Saege picked up a small bowl. It was a silvery color, crudely shaped into a semi-circle shape like it was forced to be like that. Saege crouched down next to the small creak, looking up at the sky as she filled the bowl with water.

She knew she was better off than some people were currently. She had a plan to try to help others, without.. exactly having to trust them. She stood up, some of the water splashing out of the bowl as she abruptly turned, walking back towards the shelter, pouring some of the water onto the small fire.

Saege carefully placed the bowl down on the ground, emptying her bag before filling it up with small snacks, various dried meat, and fruit, a waterskin which she filled up, and tucked a small knife into her pants before setting off into the forest, searching to see if she'd be able to find anyone or anything.

(Sorry, lemme write something quick and I'll try to be on later)

Innis felt her mind begin to fade, feeling dizzy and lightheaded. She looked over at her arm, I was bleeding through the shirt, causing massive blood loss.
I gotta stop somewhere, anywhere!

She plodded on clumsily, still clinging on to her little possessions. Suddenly she felt herself fall, fading away into her own darkness, the last thing she heard at that moment was the soft running water sound of a creek, then it was all gone.

Saege scouted the forest around the clearing, at one with the ghastly patterns on the ground, seemingly flitting in and out of sight. The forest was still dark around her, getting darker and darker now that the sun was reaching the horizon. The air is thick and heavy, carrying the scent of damp earth and decaying leaves, mingling with the faint, sickly-sweet aroma of wildflowers that stubbornly struggle to bloom amidst the surrounding decay.

She worked her way outwards from the clearing, before working back inwards, finally reappearing in the clearing when she'd not found anything. She made her way up to the shelter, placing the bag down. She then frowned as she realized how tattered the bag was, knowing it probably won't last too much longer. Saege made her way towards the creek, the bowl from earlier in hand. She almost dropped it when she saw someone else lying on the other side of the creek.

How had she not noticed them? Wait.. Are they hurt? Dammit.. She placed the bowl down beside the creek, immediately stepping across it to look over the new person.

(AAAA SORRY)

Saege assessed Innis, trying to figure out if they were dead, if they weren't, they were likely dying of blood loss; so she immediately picked them up. She placed them carefully over her shoulder and returned to the shelter she made, placing Innis on a pile of furs near the back wall.

She moved the sleeve of Innis' shirt onto her shoulder to assess her arm. She then moved away for a moment, rummaging through a bag set aside, coming up with something like a bandage. It was made of thick scraps of cloth. She frowned, knowing that she didn't really have anything to soak the bandage in to make sure the wound was disinfected, so she stood up, finding a bundle made of animal fur, searching through it to pull out a soft-pink flower(Musk Mallow), holding a few in her hands before grabbing some lavender that was beside the bundle.

She finally grabbed a bowl sitting next to the firepit, making her way back to Innis. Saege placed the herbs into the bowl, down beside the injured female before standing up once again, grabbing the larger bowl she'd used for water earlier and returning to the creek, filling it up with water. Returning, she grabbed a clean cloth, and finally just sat down next to Innis, placing the water to the side and dipping the cloth into it.

She then started to gingerly clean up the blood on Innis' arm, scrubbing at it rough enough that it started to come off. She repeated the motion of dipping the cloth into the water and scrubbing at the girl's arm in front of her. After Innis' arm was fairly cleaned up, she grabbed the herbs and started carefully pulling off the leaves of the stem of pink flower, placing the flower bud itself into the bowl, the leaves falling on top of it. She then started to pull the flowers off of the stems of lavender. After she finished with this, she carefully poured a small amount of water onto them, mixing it up with a rounded rock, mushing the flowers and leaves together to make a poultice.

After she finished this, she picked some of it up, starting to lather it onto Innis' arm, over the wound. After the wound was covered in the spicy-sweet-smelling poultice, she carefully wrapped her arm in the bandage to keep it in place.

(DO NOT FOLLOW THIS I COULDN'T FIND WHAT YOU ACTUALLY DO SO I'M INFERRING. Musk Mallow is used for anti-inflammatory purposes, lavender is a disinfectant.)
