A year had past and Asteroid is now an adult. She is also starting to become a fine hunter. She walk in camp, help carrying a bull elk she help catches. The other wolves in the pack admired the kill. Peary trotted over to her. "Nice catch. Did you help bring it down, Asteroid?" The mottled brown male asked. His praise made her warm inside. She locked eyes with him. "I did. But I can't get all the credit. Wolverine deal the last blow." She look at the male. His mother had past. She can't help but feel sorry for him. Wolverine had lost both of his parents and he doesn't know the truth about his father's death. He still think coyotes did it. He vow to kill any coyote he come across. She shuddered at the innocent coyotes she witness him slaughtered during hunts. "But elk is tough to take down. I have my fair share of blows." Peary told her. He followed her as she help carry the bull elk to the horde. Peary look at her before asking. "Do you want to take a walk with me by the ocean?" Asteroid frozed and look at him. Peary is one of the most handsome wolves in the pack and she admitted that she has a crush on him. "Who me?" "Yes you." Peary said with a chuckle. "So, do you want to?" Asteroid calmed herself down. "Sure. I would like that." Peary wagged his tail and led Asteroid out of the camp. She walk by Ariel who was talking to her mother. She saw Peary and shot him with a look Asteroid couldn't described. Asteroid was getting closer to Ariel and even is on the same team as her. She was a good hunting partner. She is going to ask what is bothering her when she got back. She shook her head and followed Peary until they where at the shore. Peary sat down on the shore and Asteroid copied him. She look out on the ocean. Up ahead, she can make out some glaciers. The sun was setting, making the glaciers glow. She hold her breath. The sight was beautiful. She glance at Peary who wasn't paying attention. His eyes where on her and it's as if he couldn't look away. "You are an incredible wolf, Asteroid. Even though your mother is half fealcu. But she is also an amazing wolf just like her daughter." Peary leaned forward and pressed his nose against her again cheek, taking her breath away. "You don't mean that do you?" Asteroid asked, her heart beating fast. She was wondering he just saying that because he felt sympathy. Other wolves still didn't trust her becuase of her heritage. Ariel's mother included. Nebula always made sure to pull them away. But Ariel always talk to her not because of sympathy, but because she was her friend. Her equal. "I do. I meant every word." Peary told her, his voice sounding genuine. He pulled away to stare at her. He then look at the ocean again. Asteroid had felt her tail involuntary wagged. |
