Ugly Stud

Ugly Stud

What might be making this stud so undesirable? I've had maybe three requests since I got him. His fee is set at the minimum.

I do not think he is ugly, but perhaps he is lacking the things that make a stud popular. Many people look for high stats and many t2 and t6 markings. Also mutations like piebald and patches will make a stud ALOT more desirable from what I've seen. I'm in the same boat as you though,  my stud has not had a single request despite having a special coat and several nice tier markings. I think mine is too expensive even at the minimum because there are many studs with higher stats and mutations at the same price. I think that's all it comes down to.

I've considered that stats might be a major issue, I don't think I've dedicated enough time to increasing them. That's definitely a valid point

I find the piebald trend a bit frustrating, as I did when it caught on on lioden. There's only so many variations that the artists can render, and there're bound to be a few patterns that are most popular— at a certain point it seems many leads/studs are copy paste. I feel like what would be considered popular or desirable studs are lacking in any uniqueness. And the over-saturation of mutated studs has always bothered me. I do understand the inherent value, when a piebald stud can profit much more than a non mutated stud and a person studding to a piebald stud can then profit more off of mutated cubs than non mutated cubs. I guess that's a personal peeve of mine, I'm not sure how others feel on the subject.

I do appreciate that you mentioned the minimum fee still being too costly, especially in comparison to other studs of similar appearance. It's another thing that I understand, the purpose seemingly to encourage the economy around studs and make the act of studding more potentially valuable, risky, and time consuming, yet it's still frustrating to know "my stud, when contextualized by the general studding economy, is not worth this minimum value. I can't lower it, and therefore I won't be seeing any stud requests." There just isn't enough incentive for a player to take a risk on a valuable yet contextually average stud when there are so many high stat, mutated, raffle eyed, T* studs at not much more of a cost.
