I LOVE to read and am wanting to read more this coming up year so I need some suggestions!

Plus I would just LOVE to talk to people about their favorite authors, books, read anything you guys have wrote (if up for it)…

My favorite author: Terry Pratchett
Favorite book(s): Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy, The Spirit Bares Its Teeth, and Watership Down.

I've been meaning to read more of Terry Pratchett's works, I always hear about how great they are, and I'm curious about the hype. Forwarning, I've been on a horror-esque kick when it comes to my recent reads, so if that's not your thing, disregard the rest of this.

For recommendations, my go-to is the Metro 2023 series, which is pretty fun. It's mainly post-apocalyptic with a bit of supernatural horror sprinkled in, with the first book being mostly self-contained and a fun genre exploration, so you don't need any knowledge of the games or whatnot to get into it.

Another fun, but wacky and sometimes dense read is the Necroscope by Brian Lumley. Once again a supernatural thriller following a guy who can talk to the dead versus a half-vampire (later real vampires from an alternate Earth if you read a few books into the series) with some written gore and oddities throughout. The books focus more on the events and overall story rather than the characters, so take a look if you're ok with (many) disposable plot characters.

Outside of those, if you are up for a truly wild reading experience (one best undertaken with no prior knowledge. At All.), try The Wasp Factory by Iian Banks. One of my favorite books ever: it's a horror novel, yet in a gothic fashion I've yet to see be done by anyone else. It's strange and offputting, but magnetic and dreamlike in its descriptions. It can be a bit much for some, so warning there.

These are just a few recommendations, but I think they're some of the gems from my reading of this year, so maybe you can get some enjoyment out of them too.

Thank you so much for responding! I love horror-esque books and am always struggling to find good ones. Added your suggestions to my list of to-reads! They all sounds very interesting.
